News, Funding, Training Opportunities etc for Barnet VCOs

Welcome to the Barnet Together newsletter featuring news, grants, training opportunities...

Fabulous news this week with the launch of Round 2 of the Barnet Community Innovation Fund. Earlier this year, Round 1 saw almost £130,000 invested in seven local projects which are helping Barnet residents and communities improve their overall health and wellbeing. Round 2 sees more funding available - woo hoo! And that's just one of many funders out there keen to support voluntary, community and faith organisations.

Barnet Community Innovation Fund - Round 2

Following the success of the pilot scheme in Spring 2021, the joint initiative with local NHS partners and Barnet's volunteer and community sectors represented by Barnet Together, are opening a second round of funding. A pot of £320,000 will be open for applications from 1 October 2021 and will close on 5pm on Monday 1 November.

The fund aims to improve health and wellbeing in the borough as a joint initiative with the Barnet Integrated Care Partnership, the NHS and the volunteer and community sectors represented by Barnet Together.

We want to build on the strengths of voluntary and community organisations in the area. Please join the workshop to find out more about the aims of the fund, how local groups can be supported to work in partnership and to hear what worked in the previous round.

Find out more at online workshops on Thursday 9 and Monday 13 September.

The workshop will cover:

  • CIF background and investment priorities
  • The criteria and eligibility
  • Application process
  • Assessment and some application do's and don'ts

If you have any questions about the fund, please contact Marta Montague, Community Innovation Fund Manager.

Plan for 2022's Boundary Changes in Barnet

From 5 May 2022 Barnet will have new wards, following an independent review carried out by LGBCE. The changes mean residents might be represented by a different number of councillors than previously, the name of the wards may change, and polling stations might also change location. Changes will come into effect at the local elections next May.

Services could be affected in a number of ways, especially for any services that are delivered by ward areas or rely on data gathered at a ward level – meaning there will be an impact on historical data comparison going forward.

Plan ahead and make sure you are aware of how the changes might affect your service and the people that you support.
