Nurse – Family Partnership (NFP) NFP is an evidence-based home visiting program for young, socially and/or economically disadvantaged, first-time mothers. The home visits are conducted by trained Public Health nurses and occur throughout pregnancy and until the child’s second birthday. Criteria: Participants in NFP must be under the age of 25, and at less than 28 weeks gestation in their first pregnancy at the time of enrollment. Referral process: NFP is being offered in Niagara as a component of the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program. Well Baby Clinics Well baby clinics are located throughout the Niagara Region, providing parents with an opportunity to drop-in and speak with a Public Health nurse. Our goal is to maximize the number of clients who are visiting well baby clinic within the first two weeks after delivery to ensure timely information and referral to additional services. Criteria: For parents with babies up to one year old. Referral Process: The well baby clinics are drop-in and patients can self-refer. Triple P Parenting Classes Triple P is a positive parenting program facilitated by accredited Public Health nurses and delivered at various locations throughout the Niagara Region. Triple P is a preventive and behavioural family intervention program. Triple P teaches parents how to manage problems such as:

Prenatal Classes Prenatal classes (online and in-person) cover a variety of topics through pregnancy, labour and delivery, and post-partum care. Criteria: Parents who are expecting a baby in Niagara. Referral Process: Parents can self-refer by calling 905-688-8248 ext. 7555, or 1-888-505-6074 ext. 7555. Parent Talk Line The Parent Talk Line is a telephone information line available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. that parents may phone to speak with a public health nurse about any parenting issue. Criteria: Parents and caregivers with parenting questions or concerns. Referral Process: The public can call to speak to a Public Health nurse about any parenting issue at 905-688-8248 or 1-888-505-6074 ext. 7555. REVIEW: Tick Submissions Summer is coming to a close, but ticks are still active and can be found any time of year when the temperatures are above freezing. Last year, 13.8% of the ticks in Niagara tested positive with Borrelia burgdorferi. Health Quality Ontario has updated the Clinical Guidance Document-Management of Tick Bites & Investigation of Early Localized Lyme Disease to help you when dealing with this issue.
