8-count Lindy Hop

When you really want to dig that swing beat, there’s nothing like 8-count lindy hop! We will start with the basics, from zero dance experience on up, and get you swinging around the dance floor in no time! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

Level 2 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)

Tandem Charleston

Spice up your Lindy language with some hot, fast-paced Tandem Charleston. Your trusty guides will navigate you through the ins and outs and all of the awesome variations in between. We'll focus on footwork, connection, and creative ways these fun steps can be added seamlessly into your Charleston repertoire.

PRE-REQUISITES: Level 1A-C; twice through recommended. Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required, just bring your enthusiasm!

Level 3 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)

Historical Clips

Thanks to YouTube, our generation has unprecedented access to clips of original lindy hoppers performing for the silver screen in addition to a constantly growing history of modern-era "famous" dances. No more shaky VHS tapes for us! We will showcase the lindy clips you absolutely have to know and teach you how to pull inspiration from the past into your present.

PRE-REQUISITES: At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors.  Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

Vintage Movement

Celebrate African-American history this month by taking a dive into the vintage dance scene of the early 1900's. Our expert panel of instructors will teach a new dance each week to help you understand the origins and siblings of Lindy Hop at the start of the Jazz Age, including Blues, Charleston, and Solo Jazz.

PRE-REQUISITES: This series is for intermediate level dancers and above; you'll need to be able to dance a variety of standard 6 & 8 count patterns in both Lindy and Charleston to get the most out of this class. No partner required, just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!
