Video Message from Susan Frederick-GrayGiving Tuesday: UU the VoteGiving Tuesday was a big success, with more than 400 people contributing nearly $40,000 to support UU the Vote. Special thanks to the President's Council members who pledged over $50,000 in matching funds. UU the Vote is a non-partisan faith initiative, created in partnership with broader justice movements, to engage our neighbors, educate our communities, mobilize voters, and rally around key ballot initiatives. Next, UU congregations and individuals will gather on Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2020 for UU the Vote’s official launch event, which will be live streamed beginning at 1 pm PT / 4 pm ET. BLUU is now an independent nonprofit organization providing leadership, programming, public witness and pastoral care that centers the needs and concerns of Black UUs. This spring we'll share a report on the Promise and Practice campaign, highlighting some of the campaign's work and successes, as well as providing a look at BLUU's future plans. Faithify Crowdfunding Raises over $135,000Since 2014, Faithify.org, the UU crowdfunding site, has raised $1,571,109 for UU ministries and projects. Just since July 2019, Faithify donors have contributed over $135,000 to Unitarian Universalist ministries and have successfully funded 100% of the campaigns launched in the time! Two program changes to note as we head into 2020: ✨ Any campaigns for attendance and travel costs to General Assembly (GA) get to keep whatever they raise. No more all-or-nothing requirement for GA travel campaigns. ✨ UU congregations in good standing with the UUA can accept gifts made by check to count toward their campaign goals in addition to standard online credit card gifts. From its beginning in 2014, hosting a project on Faithify.org has been free of charge. Faithify helps express the UUA mission: equipping congregations for health and vitality; supporting religious leaders; and advancing UU values in the world. More than 300 project authors and thousands of funders come together across geography and generation to join in a larger Unitarian Universalist covenant to support each other. By supporting Faithify you are helping offer affordable, connection-based fundraising to the UU community for years to come.
