SYNOD DELEGATE TRAINING - MARCH

Delegates for General Convention should be elected by now, with their details entered into LAMP. (Read these step-by-step instructions if you're having trouble entering your delegate's details into LAMP - click here for the PDF.) Please make this an URGENT priority if this has not yet been done. Delegate Training will take place across the LCA/NZ in March. Dates and venues can be found on the General Convention webpage or via direct download. Please advise your delegate so that he/she can make arrangements to attend. This training applies to all lay and pastor delegates, even those with extensive Convention experience. Remember too that delegates serve for the entire three-year synodical term, until the 2018 Convention. Please ensure that delegates are fully aware of their responsibilities; the role involves much more than a visit to Brisbane. More information about delegate responsibilities.

ALC OPENING SERVICE AND LECTURE

All are welcome to attend Australian Lutheran College’s opening service and lecture on Monday, 23 February at 104 Jeffcott Street, North Adelaide. Worship will be held in the chapel at 9.00 am, followed by the opening lecture in the Refectory at 9.30 am. Rev Dr Stephen Hultgren will present this year’s lecture entitled, ‘Revisiting the Third Use of the Law’. The topic of the third use of the law (whether the law has a place in guiding Christians who live in the power of the Holy Spirit) has had a long and contentious history in Lutheranism. The lecture will take up the question, unearthing the roots of the debate, exploring biblical dimensions, and offering a contemporary restatement of the doctrine, particularly in view of challenges regarding law and freedom today.
