Brothers.
As Knights, we are called to serve our parish but also grow together in the one Faith. With this in mind, I want to remind everyone of a few opportunities for service and fraternity.

  1. [Fraternity/Faith] We are planning a pilgrimage to the beautiful St. Joseph's Church in Camden for June 12th. See below for details to RSVP.
  2. [Faith/Community]Our parish needs help cleaning pews after Mass as well as welcoming and sanitizing hands. To volunteer, please report to the sacristy immediately after Mass to pick up cleaning supplies. You should enter on the left side of the sanctuary behind the pulpit.
  3. [Faith/Community] We will be presented gifts at the practice First Holy Communions Mass. Scheduled for April 24th at 11:15 am.
  4. [Faith/Fraternity] We will be starting a Marian Consecration this month as a council. Stay tuned via email and slack for more information.

Thank you
God Bless

Hall Updates

Welcome to Assumption Hall

The council has voted to name our new meeting hall "Assumption Hall". Our council has been blessed by the Blessed Mother in many ways over the years and this dedication will surely please Jesus and our Mother. Our goal is to officially dedicate our Hall in the Summer and have Fr. Rossi offer membership Mass. After the Mass we will host a BBQ to celebrate with our parish! Here is our timeline:

April-May: Planning and event organizing. Respond to this email if you are interested in being part of the planning committee.

June: Dedication, Blessing, Membership Mass, and BBQ

Learn more about the Title Assumption from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

966 "Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death."508 The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians:

In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.509

Hall Furnishing

We have only a few weeks before the dedication and need to finish our Hall refurbishing. The second coat of paint is to come next as well as decorating with the accouterments to make the Hall fitting for our business meetings (flags, photos, awards, etc.).  View More Photos Here. Respond to this email if you are interested in being part of the planning committee.

Prayer Corner

A PRAYER FOR PROTECTION IN TIME OF PANDEMIC

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen. Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen. Adapted from the prayer of Pope Francis

About Assumption Council 3397

Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society.

Assumption 3397 chartered January 07, 1951. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. Assumption 3397 was formed to render aid and assistance to sick, disabled, and poverty-stricken parishioners of St. Bridget’s along with our council’s members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, and public relief works.

Our membership stays strong with growth up to 67 members with a strong core of devoted catholic brothers living the mission of Father McGivney. Our order is stronger during these trying times than ever before. As you can witness in our weekly mass, parish events, donations on a community and larger level, during trying times, we come together in unity for the betterment of each other.
