The Master welcomes you to the new academic year"Every new academic year brings with it an exhilarating burst of anticipation, as we welcome new enquiring minds (undergraduate and postgraduate) through Corpus’ gates. This year more than most our sense of watchful oversight is high – for the students, our Fellowship and the College community as a whole. How do we maximise the student experience while keeping everyone sensibly safe, for whatever version of the pandemic or its variants comes next? To this there is no definitive answer, other than to know that we have found our way successfully through the complexities of the last eighteen months. This at least gives us some confidence that we can, and we will, manage whatever is ahead. Above all, we look forward to teaching in person, and for College life to return in full. News from the CollegeA bright start to the second Corpus Bridging CourseAt the beginning of September, Corpus welcomed its second cohort for the only fully residential onboarding scheme for students from under-represented backgrounds offered by any Cambridge College. Eight students studying in the arts and humanities and eight in the sciences arrived at College a month before they began their degrees to join a unique, intensive programme which aims to smooth their transition between school and university. Corpus to host A-level students in STEM SMART pilot programmeWe are proud to be among the first Colleges to welcome A-level students on the new STEM SMART pilot programme as part of our commitment to widening access and participation. The programme, designed to bridge attainment gaps and mitigate educational disruption caused by the COVID pandemic, will support students’ classroom studies in maths and science throughout their final year-and-a-half at school - from the second term of Year 12 to their Year 13 A-level examinations. ![]() Corpus Boat Club victory at Loch NessWe are very proud of our rowers who won this year's Monster the Loch boat race! Corpus Christi College Boat Club took on the biggest challenge of their rowing lives on Saturday 18th September, rowing 21 miles across the legendary waters of Loch Ness. Alumni noticesMacCurdy Reunion: Thanks for coming!Corpus was thrilled to welcome over 100 alumni to the MacCurdy dinner on Saturday 25th September. The evening began with an exhibition in the Parker Library entitled 'Six Edible Centuries at Corpus Christi College' followed by a discussion with Fellows in the McCrum Lecture Theatre. Alumni from 1987, 1988, 1989, 1999 and 2000 enjoyed a delicious dinner in Hall and continued their conversations into the OCR and Green MacCurdy rooms. It was an enormous pleasure to see everyone and we hope you can join us again soon.
