Record of Processing Activity UPDATEFor those of you implementing GDPR in your council, our Record of Processing Activity (RoPA) service for LG Inform Plus subscribers lets you store information on what records you keep and how you keep them secure. The service comes pre-populated with 1,700 record types, with associated information on the legal basis for holding records. Many councils have reviewed those record types and proposed a few extra ones which have been validated by a records management expert from Kent County Council. Another four record types - for planning applications and homelessness assessments - have been added this week. Be sure to check the latest RoPA download to make sure you have all the record types you need in your council’s RoPA. Your feedback is important to us and we want to develop this initial offer. Please contact us to discuss your use of the new RoPA service and pass on any improvement suggestions you may have. Health and Care facility maps for your areaHealth and Care facilities monitored by the Care Quality Commission are now available for showing as amenities in LG Inform Plus maps. We also keep metrics on the number of facilities of each type in your area, so you can create graphs and charts to compare with other localities. See this sample map of care homes with nursing in Bournemouth. You can change the area selection to see your own borough. Linked Open Data Workshop in OxfordshireThe International Society for Knowledge organisation (ISKO) will be holding a Linked Open Data Professional Development Workshop on 22 May in Oxfordshire. The event will include a presentation on Linked Open Data in English Local Government, with particular reference to the open data features of LG Inform Plus, as well as a panel discussion about the benefits and costs of exposing your data. You can also attend a training workshop lead by the Open Data Institute, or a chance to talk in more detail about possible open data projects. See here for more details and booking. LGA Research: Gender Pay Gap reportAll employers with 250 or more employees must publish figures comparing men and women’s average pay across their organization. This data has recently been published by the HM Government Gender Pay Gap Service and is now loaded onto our systems. The LGA is gearing up to support Councils in dealing with the gender pay gap by providing an analysis of this data and access to individual
council data for benchmarking through LG Inform. LGA Research: Crime and Disorder reportThe perception of crime and disorder is a key influencing factor in the quality of life in an area. Our police recorded crime report, updated quarterly, provides an in depth overview of crime in any selected area and comparison group. For example, in the year ending December 2017, police forces in England recorded a total of 81.42 offences per 1,000 people for this period. North East had the largest number of police recorded crimes per 1,000 people for this period at 100.47, followed by Yorkshire and Humberside at 97.50 per 1,000. To explore overall crime and the individual types of offence in your own area or elsewhere, take a look at the full report here.
