Portfolio News - Guzman Y Gomez

Magellan Financial Group becomes a substantial shareholder; Australia's elite athletes also invest

Hamish Douglass led Magellan Financial Group Limited has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 10% shareholding in Guzman y Gomez for $86.7m, resulting in a post-money valuation for GYG of $867 million.

Guzman y Gomez also announced  that Athletic Ventures is to become a new investor. Representing a group of Australia's highest-profile male and female athletes, over 40 current elite athletes will become GYG shareholders through AV on the same commercial terms as Magellan.

Guzman y Gomez is Australia's fastest growing quick service restaurant chain specialising in made to order, clean, authentic and fresh Mexican food, currently with 147 restaurants across Australia, Singapore, Japan and the U.S.

High profile athletes from all of Australia's elite professional sporting codes as well as Olympians, Grand Slam tennis champions and World Champion surfers are now proud GYG shareholders.

 

2020 Sohn Hearts and Minds

The Sohn Hearts and Mind Conference has raised over $20 million for medical research since 2016, and TDM were again proud to be invited to pitch our best investment idea at this year’s virtual conference.

As many of you know, just weeks after this pitch, Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Slack for cUS$28 billion

"Scaling Up" Series 3 all wrapped up

Series 3 of our podcast, "Scaling Up", was jam-packed with insights, learnings and inspiration as we explored the 'Scaling Up' stories of incredible Australian growth companies, from billion dollar tech company, SiteMinder, to bootstrapped social impact phenomenon, Who Gives A Crap.
