The fact is though … it is true! Times have changed in the last 18 months more than anyone could have anticipated. 100% for accreditationImmanuel Gardens Buderim has attained a 100% score in the most recent accreditation visit held in June 2021. Immanuel Gardens staff, with support from Lutheran Services Support Centre staff, have been working hard to ensure all eight aged care standards would be met and surpassed. Their efforts have been affirmed by a thorough examination by government accreditors and their 100% score is well deserved. Thank you to our Aged Care Employees!Ministry with the Aging, together with the Christian Care Sunday project encourages our Lutheran Church members to honour those who care for our older Australians and say “thanks for caring” ahead of Aged Care Employee Day on Saturday 7 August 2021 (#ACED2021). “We’re asking our community to take a moment and think about the quiet achievers and the superheroes who provide care with professionalism, compassion and dedication for our loved ones and give them the recognition they deserve. ” Anna Kroehn from the Christian Care Sunday project says. “It’s been a particularly challenging eighteen months for aged care workers both in residential and home care services leaving many families and friends unable to visit loved ones in care for weeks on end. “It often fell to the carers, the nurses and other staff to make up for that loss of family contact and become that crucial connection for frail and vulnerable older Australians. New Resource - Preparing for my funeralPreparing for my funeral is a great new resource developed by the Committee for Ministry with the Ageing. This two-part resource provides you with a guide for ideas on preparing for your funeral and comes with a planning sheet to complete with all those important things you want others to know. You can download it by visiting our events-training-resource page or email cma@lca.org.au to request the resource. Voluntary assisted dying and the LCANZVoluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) has been on the agenda of our governments for several years now. VAD has become legal through legislation that has been passed in various states of Australia. Here are some resources that may assist you in responding to questions about VAD, euthanasia and palliative care.
