INTRODUCTION OF YELLOW CARDS FOR DRESSAGE IN 2017

As of 1 January 2017 National Dressage rule changes will come into effect, including the introduction of Yellow Cards. Yellow Cards may be imposed for the following:

  • Abuse of horse (an action or omission involving the mistreatment of a horse)
  • Abuse of an Official (including abusive or bullying behaviour directed to an Official and conduct directed toward an Official that denigrates the Official)
  • Failure to follow a direction of an Official relating to compliance with these rules

EVENTING NEWS

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

CONGRATULATIONS POLLY & CLAYTON

Congratulations to Polly-Ann Huntington who attended the recent FEI Seminar for officials in Puhinui, New Zealand, and was successfully upgraded to level 3*/4* Technical Delegate. She now holds this qualification in addition to her 3*/4* Ground Jury role. Congratulations also to Perth born Clayton Fredericks who was upgraded to Level 3*/4* Course Designer.

2017 STATE INTERSCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

As part of our duty of care and risk management responsibilities, Interschool WA now requires riders to gain qualifications prior to entering the WA State Interschool Championships.

The 2017 qualification period is 18 March 2016 - 3 March 2017. Qualifications must be recorded on the Interschool Qualification Card template and submitted to the EWA office by 10 March 2017. MORE

SHOW HORSE - NEWS

2017 HOTY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The entry requirements for the 2017 EWA Horse of the Year Show are now available.

In 2017, no qualifications will be required, however there are other conditions that apply including membership and performance card renewal deadlines. These entry requirements must be observed in addition to the EA National Show Horse Rules.

EOI FOR SHOW HORSE WORKING PARTY MEMBERS

The EWA Show Horse Working Party is calling for expressions of interest for volunteers to assist in the organisation of the three EWA shows in 2017. Various duties are available. Volunteers must be able to commit to a once-monthly meeting, except in the leadup to events where meetings may be held more regularly. Volunteers must also be available to help at each event. If you would like to apply please email rhiannon.bealey@equestrianwa.org.au outlining your experience/skills and preferred area of involvement.

SECOND NATIONAL EVENT TO BE INTRODUCED IN 2018

In an endeavor to provide more opportunities for competitors, Equestrian NSW Show Horse have been working towards a second new major EA National event.

The all-new 2018 Southern Cross Show Horse Championships is set to be held in March 2018 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. The event will be judged by International and Australian judges and is by invitation only. The top 3 placegetters from nominated classes at accepted EA shows will qualify to be invited to compete.

The three 2017 EWA Show Horse events - Autumn Pageant (15/16 April), Winter Gala/Newcomers (3/4 June) and Horse of the Year (1-3 September) - will all be qualifiers for this exciting new event.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
