From Frank’s Desk

This year is looking very positive for the Best Practice “family”.

After the successful launch of Bp Premier’s Lava Service Pack 3 in December, work continues on Indigo, which is in its final development phase prior to Release. This will be great news for GPs and Practice Managers.

Our specialist software, Bp VIP.net, is in development of its next phase, Ruby, which will bring exciting new features.
And Bp Allied, our software for allied health professionals, is undergoing development of Version 6, following the successful release of Version 5 last year.

After the successful launch of our new corporate website, www.bpsoftware.net, we are well underway in development of a customer portal, which will give you access to your Best Practice account and allow for greater flexibility and use 24/7.  The popular Bp Forum has also been successfully migrated to the new website, a huge task considering the thousands of posts over many years, which we have kept.

One of our most exciting developments planned for 2018 is the Best Health App.  There will be many features that make the app attractive for your patients and for your Clinics including messaging, sharing health notes and synchronise appointments.  You will also be able to send patient education material, consumer medicine information, fact sheets and a patient’s health summary.

Other areas we will be concentrating on this year are our Training and Support.

We will be bringing training not only to capital cities, but also major regional areas; and our popular Bp Premier Masterclasses will be continuing.  Training will also be ramped up for Bp Allied and Bp VIP.net customers. Contact our training team to discuss what options are available now. When you phone us on 1300 40 1111 in Australia or 0800 40 1111 in New Zealand, choose your product and then press 3 to talk directly to one of our training professionals.

Our Support Team keeps growing as demand dictates and we continue to be at the cutting edge of system improvement to cut down wait times and give you the help you need, when you need it.

We wish you a very successful 2018 and we look forward to working with you.

Sincerely

Dr Frank Pyefinch

Ishar join Team Bp

When the Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Centre in W.A. contacted Best Practice about providing Bp Premier we were pleased to provide our software to them as part of our Community Partnership Programme.

Best Practice Chief Operating Officer Craig Hodges, said Team Bp were pleased to help the Centre.

“Ishar is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing medical and support services to women and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have come to Australia as migrants and humanitarian refugees for the past 25 years” Craig said. “Their objectives certainly match the criteria for our Community Partnership Programme”.

Rachel Pearce, Manager of Health Services at Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Centre said they were very grateful for Best Practice Software’s support. “We are really pleased with our Best Practice software and our Doctors are very happy to have moved from a paper-based system and not have to write everything by hand any more”.

By using Bp Premier, Doctors will have more time to spend on their important work – caring for their patients in and around Mirrabooka in Western Australia. Keep up the great work!

Family Fun Day – Waikato Districts

Team Bp was happy to support Fostering Kids New Zealand’s 2017 Family Fun Day in Hamilton.

It was a great day out for fostering families to enjoy time together with some special guests, including some “movie stars” and a jolly man in red who was pleased to have a rest from all the excitement in this photo!

Congratulations to Fostering Kids New Zealand for making a real difference to families across New Zealand.

This month’s Quick Tips!

Tip 1 - Being prepared for Storm Season
We’re sure we don’t need to remind you that we’re in the middle of storm season!  What we would like to remind you, though, is to make sure you are taking the required precautions to protect both your data and hardware.
The best way to protect both your data and hardware from the effects of a storm is to have an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in place. If you do not have these available, the next best precaution is to shut down your systems and disconnect power/ethernet cables to prevent damage. If you usually leave the server on, we recommended disconnecting this when finishing for the day if no UPS/Surge protection is setup and storms are predicted.
Best Practice also require you have a current Bp Backup in the event of a disaster recovery situation.

Tip 2 – Bp Premier
Best Practice Software have developed a Knowledge base for your convenience.
How can you access the Best Practice Software Online Knowledge base?
If you are using Bp Premier Lava or newer you can access our knowledge base from inside of Bp Premier from the main screen (help > online help)
If you are using an older version, you can access by browsing to kb.bpsoftware.net in your web browser.

Tip 3 – Bp Premier
Q
: How do I stop other users accessing my patient’s records?
A: If there are circumstances in your practice that require a patient’s record only be accessed by their specified GP this can be done via the patient’s demographics. Set up a “Usual Doctor” and then check the box “Deny access to other users” and select “Save”. The patient will now be locked and can only be accessed by this GP. All other users will be prompted with a notification advising the record is locked and can be accessed by entering an override password. (This can be obtained from your Practice Manager).
Note: any user who has ‘Edit’ permissions for Patient Demographics will be able to change this.

Commonly Asked Question
Q:
Can you delete sent reminders? (Clinical > Reminders > View > Sent Reminders)
A: Once a reminder is sent it cannot be deleted from the sent reminders. If a copy of the letter was saved to the patient’s clinical record, this can be deleted from their Correspondence Out.

As always, the Bp Support team are here to help: 1300 40 1111 in Australia and 0800 40 1111 in New Zealand.
