Regent College. Loving distance learning! No images? Click here March 29 2020 Dear Regent Families, A reminder that tomorrow (Monday 30th March) we continue with our second student free day as outlined in the previous COVID-19 Update. Thank you for assisting the College with these days as teachers continue to develop the Distance Learning Program (DLP). DOING SCHOOL DIFFERENTLY You may have noticed that the Government is now using different terminology with regarding to schools. Effectively what is happening across all sectors and in all states, is a transition from face to face tuition to online (or Distance) learning. This is for the benefit of students, but also as a strategy to assist teachers during this time. ESSENTIAL ATTENDANCE From Tuesday, we are actively transitioning to the Distance Learning Programme. We strongly encourage students to complete their school work at home and not to attend the College. However we will make provision for supervision of students who have no other option including children whose parents are employed in essential services.
IMPORTANT - ACCESSING DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMME CONTENT An essential component of the Distance Learning Programme is students being able to access the content on a daily/regular and ongoing basis via an iPad or computer - as opposed to a phone. If you anticipate that your child is going to have no or very limited access to a device e.g. iPad, please contact your child's teacher ASAP. An example of this might be if parents are working from home utilising the devices and the child has no access. ABSENTEEISM NOTIFICATION Every day (other than student free days) that your child is not at school needs to be accounted for with a notice of absenteeism; this includes remaining home for self-isolation and distance learning (at least for the remainder of Term 1). For your information, the College records all student absences relating to COVID-19 as a Reasonable absence. 'Reasonable' includes:
If you could please email absentee notes to your child's teacher and Cc Administration.
Yours sincerely Derek Nicholls. Principal
