Businesses supporting artistsJPE Design Studio and not-for-profit Guildhouse are bringing together business and art to support South Australian creatives. The Art in Residence program gives participants a chance to exhibit their work and learn new skills. July spending the highest so far this year at $365 millionTotal spend in the city reached new heights in July, with latest AEDA figures showing the CBD and North Adelaide recorded their strongest month-to-date since December 2021. It comes as local hospitality operator and AEDA Board Member Oliver Brown said “sleepy winters are a thing of the past”, with more people coming into the city on weekends. Local fashion designers given opportunities to build businessThe next generation of South Australian fashion designers will have access to studio, retail and event space as part of a new City of Adelaide initiative to support local, up-and-coming creatives. Fashion Est. — in North Adelaide Village — offers designers studio, retail and event space, as well as a chance to show the public their creative process. There are six designers currently using the pop-up space to boost their businesses. Small business surveyWhether you are a new business or a seasoned operator, the State Government of South Australia wants to know what help you need to run your business. The state-wide survey aims to identify challenges and help empower small business owners. Responses will help formulate a Small Business Strategy. Have your say before Friday 7 October. Rundle Mall goes greenerAustralia’s largest green bin trial in a retail precinct has been launched in Rundle Mall, as part of an initiative to reduce food waste sent to landfill. Designated green bins for food scraps and compostable materials have been installed as part of the 12-month pilot program. The project is a partnership between the City of Adelaide, AEDA and the state's waste-reduction and resource-recovery agency, Green Industries SA.
