In this class, the poses are slow-paced and suitable for every level from total newbies to experienced to recovering athletes and seniors. The sequence is designed to calm the mind and nervous system, enables you to connect with your breath, reconnect with your spirit within. Find more information and register here Women's Self Defense Free Community ClassSaturday, December 7 | 11:30 AM- 12:30 PM | Oom Yung Doe - 8 Martial Arts| Ages 11 and up Extremely effective self defense techniques are being taught at their most fundamental level so that any beginner can learn to defend themselves. Participants will learn how to turn everyday objects into weapons for self defense, and how to safely use your body to put an offender on the defense. 8th Annual Blink! A FREE Light & Sound Experience For The HolidaySunday, December 15 | 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM | Faneuil Hall | All Ages Blink!, the world-famous light and sound show, returns to deck the halls this holiday season at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Blink! features the signature holiday tree at Marketplace Center joined by all the trees and lights throughout the property. This year’s Blink! show features seven holiday favorites. Free Community Tennis at Sportsmens Tennis and Enrichment CenterSundays | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM | 950 Blue Hill Avenue, Dorchester Center | All Ages Free Community Tennis takes place every Sunday during the school year and on Saturdays during the months of July and August. It is another opportunity for youth to find a safe place to interact with one another and adults; and, for adults to attend, become physically active, and learn to play the sport of tennis at no charge. Clinics are run by certified tennis pros, alongside committed volunteers, and every effort is made to group players according to their ability. No equipment or experience are ever needed; tennis shoes are required. People are encouraged to come to open shop with projects and ideas of their own that they’d like to work on and explore, but they'll always have something in mind to get you started if you’re suffering from maker’s block. Trefler Fitness BashSaturday, December 14 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 1350 Blue Hill Avenue | All Ages Party at the Trefler Foundation’s wrap-up to their Mattapan fitness programs! MATCH ACTIVITYFlip the Switch: 31 Nights of LightSaturday, December 14 | 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM | Prudential Center| All Ages Join Big Sister Staff and Big and Little Sisters on the 14th to celebrate as we Flip the Switch and light up The Prudential purple in support of Big Sister Boston! The ceremonial switch flip will take place promptly at 5:00 PM. Join us prior to the switch flip to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as well as mix and mingle with other Big and Little Sisters with activities and crafts. MATCH ACTIVITY for Little Sisters 13+Teen Matches Give Back: Holiday Gift WrappingSaturday, December 7 | 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM | Big Sister Office | 13+ Wrap up your year with some holiday spirit! Share the gift of warmth and cheer by helping Big Sister Boston wrap up all of our generous gift donations. This is a drop-in style event, where you and your Little Sister will wrap gifts and decorate holiday envelopes along with other teen Sisters. Stop by to enjoy hot cocoa and mingle with other teen matches! Did You Know? Your company might make a donation to Big Sister for the time you and your Little Sister spend together.
