Network Effects

The framework we use to assess the sustainable competitive advantage is based on Hamilton Helmer’s “7 Powers”, of which the most powerful in our view is ‘Network Effects’. In its simplest form a positive network effect occurs when a user of a network experiences increasing utility as the network grows. While there is a lot of information on network effects across various sources, we find it very powerful to use shared language with all our portfolio management teams. To help facilitate this, we made a video covering how we think about network effects that we are now releasing for general consumption.

TDM blog Series: "What Makes a great..."

"Scaling Up" Series 3

This series returns to exploring the 'Scaling Up' stories of incredible Australian growth companies as told by their CEOs and Founders.

Many of businesses may be known by name, but their journeys have been largely undocumented in the public domain.

From billion dollar software to bootstrapped social impact e-commerce, these stories are bound to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs as well as offer up plenty of learnings.
