We are delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Spencer as the charity’s new Chief Executive. Catherine will join in July, taking the helm from Commodore Barry Bryant CVO RN, our Director General for the past 17 years. Read more on our website.

New Chief Executive for Seafarers UK

Catherine Spencer has been formally announced as the new Chief Executive of Seafarers UK. She will take over the helm from Commodore Barry Bryant CVO RN when he retires after 17 years of service on 26 July 2019. Read more.

Fly The Red Ensign, 3 September

Local councillors elected on 2 May are invited to support our ‘Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day’ campaign, when we hope to see the British Merchant Navy’s flag flying at more than 1,000 locations ashore. Please ask your local council to get involved!

Funding to increase and diversify port-based services

Seafarers UK has awarded a £110,000 grant to Mission to Seafarers to increase and diversify port-based services across the UK. The funding will allow an additional 5,000 seafarers to receive support from the Mission each year. Read more.

Grant awarded to support SSAFA’s casework service

Seafarers UK's grant-funding programme has awarded a £10,000 grant to support SSAFA’s (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) casework service which provides welfare advice and support to serving personnel, veterans and their families. Read more.

The 24 Peaks Challenge, 6-7 July

Last chance to sign up for our team challenge to hike 24 peaks across 31 miles in 24 hours. The weekend-long event will test and reward you equally, being one of the toughest and empowering corporate events. Every team must have 4-7 walkers, a non-walking support crew/driver and a lot of determination! Find out more and register your team.

RideLondon-Surrey100, 4 August

We have a few places remaining for this incredible 100-mile cycling challenge. You will be riding on closed roads through the capital and Surrey - the very same roads the professionals will be racing on.
