In Early October, the Region delivered snowplows to four participating schools and students had two weeks to turn their plow into a work of art, expressing their creativity and school spirit through their designs. On Friday, Oct. 18 invited guest judges from the Region visited each participating school to evaluate the entries. The initiative, which encourages creativity and community spirit, highlighted stunning artwork on snowplows that will be used to keep our roads safe this winter. St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School’s winning design was selected for its vibrant colours and imaginative portrayal of the road system in Niagara and iconic locations like the Burgoyne Bridge and the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines. The artwork not only highlights community pride, school pride and the winter season but also serves as a symbol of transformation and strength in our community. The program drew participation from four schools in St. Catharines: Lincoln Centennial, Prince of Wales, Canadian Martyrs, and St. Teresa of Calcutta. All four plows will soon be on display at Niagara Region Headquarters and will be in service during the winter months. This was the Region’s second year hosting the 'Paint-a-Snowplow' contest and it plans to continue the program next year, offering the opportunity to another local area municipality.Quotes:
