Langlois, a Paramedic Superintendent, was recognized for his actions on May 13, 2023. While he was off-duty, he was notified that one of his neighbours had been stabbed outside of her home and rushed to the scene. Despite not knowing whether the assailant was still present, his quick thinking, expert medical care, and calm under pressure were instrumental in stabilizing the patient. “Derek’s action are a testament to the extraordinary individuals who serve as paramedics in our community,” said Rick Ferron, Niagara EMS Chief. “I can think of no one more deserving of this honour.” The Ontario Medal for Paramedic Bravery was awarded to seven paramedics who performed individual acts of outstanding bravery and exceptional courage in the face of danger. Niagara EMS congratulates Langlois on this well-deserved recognition. Media contactCourtney Westerhof |
