Education to Employment Updates | Hutt ValleyNurturing Future Talents: How Go Architecture Elevates Education to Real-World ExperienceHave you ever found yourself wondering about the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce's decision to venture into the Education to Employment domain? Let us shed some light on it through a heartwarming story. Enter Lily, a dedicated student from St Orans College. This year, she's been weaving her academic journey with real-world work experience at Go Architecture. But it's not just about sitting at a desk for Lily. Paula Clarke and her team have ensured that she's fully immersed in the architectural world. From meeting external suppliers to understanding the intricacies of various projects, Lily has been at the forefront, soaking in knowledge. Paula Clarke, the driving force behind Go Architecture, remarked, “Lily's presence has been a breath of fresh air. She has prompted us to reflect and reevaluate our practices, seeing them through a new lens. Watching her connect her college learnings with practical insights has been immensely rewarding. And it's not just about work; she's become a part of our family here. Our staff eagerly share their work, experiences, and insights with her, enriching her learning journey." We believe in creating pathways from education to employment, and stories like Lily's reinforce the value of such endeavours. If you would like to host a student for work experience, please get in contact with our Education to Employment Coordinator, Amanda Walters. Bridging Classrooms and Careers: Inside the Sebel Hotel ExperienceOne of the most effective ways to enlighten students about potential careers is by immersing them directly in the workplace. A heartfelt shoutout to the Sebel Hotel staff for graciously hosting St Bernard students and providing them with an insightful industry tour. With a year of studying Tourism and Hospitality under their belts, these students were eager to unravel the intricacies of the hotel industry, particularly Hotel Management. Guided by Pradeep Kapai, the Sales Manager for the Sebel, the students were given a comprehensive tour. From the plush rooms and suites to guest amenities and from the welcoming café to the elegant restaurant – they saw it all. But it wasn't just a visual tour. Pradeep delved deeper, introducing them to the diverse roles that form the backbone of the hotel – Revenue, Sales, Administration, and Food & Beverage. He enlightened them on potential entry points into the industry and how the Sebel paves the way for budding enthusiasts. Through Pradeep's guidance, our young minds discovered tangible opportunities lying right within their community. Inspired to be a part of this enriching journey? If you’re a business open to hosting college student groups, we'd love to collaborate. Connect with our Education to Employment Coordinator, Amanda Walters.
