Parent Alert System Test Today at 3:30 PMWe are closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian. Although the system currently sits well off our coast, we would like to take the opportunity to remind you of our procedure regarding severe weather. All emergency events, including an announcement that school will be closed, will be shared through both email and text message using RenWeb’s Parent Alert Notification System. All email and text messages will start with “Parent Alert” and will be followed by the content of the message. To ensure the system is working properly, we will perform a test through both text message and email TODAY (Thursday, August 29) at 3:30 p.m. If you do not receive this message on your mobile phone, if you have any difficulty retrieving the messages, or if your contact information has recently changed, please contact Ashley Davis at adavis@beachesepiscopalschool.org or 904-246-2466. At this point, the latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows Hurricane Dorian tracking towards Florida. As the storm moves closer to our area, we will inform you as soon as possible via Parent Alert should a school cancellation or delay be necessary. You will also find this information on the school's website, social media platforms, and local media outlets. Please remember that the decision to cancel/resume classes is made independent of Duval County and we will make every attempt to notify our BES families effectively. Our first such event will be on Monday, September 9th. BES students will help make blankets for needy children. On that day, various grade levels will partner together to cut and tie together edges to make finished blankets that the school will donate to Project Linus, an organization that accepts blankets to give to children who are sick or who may not have access to basic necessities. We are excited about the many opportunities our students will have to engage thoughtfully in this and other wonderful community outreach projects throughout the year, and we thank our parents for supporting their students as they grow into compassionate citizens who see and meet needs around them. Save the Date: Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day on Monday, Sept. 30thBES is excited to once again hold a Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day on our campus.
