A Message from our National Director - Steve Bailey

Hi all, Well the sun has finally come out over here in Busso. The place has been like a swamp with so much rain.... well, for us in WA anyway. It also feels like the sun is showing up all around the country in CS. I’m hearing many great stories of God showing up changing people's lives.

It has been a tough season in the national office, but in the hardship God's voice is often the clearest, as we are searching and listening much more intently. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1: 10: "And He did rescue us from mortal danger and He will rescue us again, we have placed our confidence in Him and He will continue to rescue us".

My heart has been stirred because my prayers have been for God to keep us on the cutting edge..... but the cutting edge is risky and dangerous, and people can get hurt. God didn’t envisage BD and the other pioneers of CS starting a soft comfortable ministry. He planted in them a desire to see the surf culture reached, to see people transformed and have a radical experience of Jesus.

I hope you enjoy reading some radical stories of lives transformed and of the results of people taking the risk for Jesus. What are the risks the Lord wants you to take? Going to Hawaii for the mission trip? Getting up to QLD and taking part in the Paddle Against Poverty? Or something way more radical: being Jesus with skin on, day in day out at your local beach and in your local surf community.

Please pray for the many things that are happening around the country especially the New Swell Junior leadership week down in Vic. If you have some young leaders floating around, encourage them, pray for them, help pay for them to get there. It will be an experience they will not forget.
God Bless!
Steve

A Message from the CSA National Board

Season of bearing fruit – the results of CSA fund raising

As the days warm up, it means summer’s nearer. And with summer comes mango season. It’s hard to believe, but mango production starts next month! All the preparation being done now will bear fruit before we know it. I can’t wait. I was reflecting this week on Christian Surfers Australia and the financially stressful season it’s been going through. Now, thanks to lots of generous support, we are beginning to see our way through.

Fundraising totals: Since launching the ‘CSA for a Day’ fundraising program at the annual conference in April, we have had the equivalent of around two new sponsorships a week, or around $15,000. That money has literally kept CSA afloat. Thank you to all of you who have given generously. The recent email appeal for donations also raised much needed and timely support. You amazed us again. Some people gave freely and very generously, and we can’t thank you enough. More than $8,000 came in!

Our goal: Our goal is to go further and set up five new 'CSA for a Day' sponsorships a week. (That’s three more than we currently receive). It’s a big goal but we know, with God’s help and yours, we can do it. And it will enable CSA to do the work it set out to do when it began all those years ago. The board of CSA wants to equip our regional coordinators with some basic needs... lap-tops, petrol allowances, a phone, regular training... to enable them to concentrate more fully on their work on the beachfronts.

How you can help: If you are praying for CSA’s financial situation, please keep doing that. It’s vital we lay this work before God, knowing that He is in control. If you are considering sponsoring ‘CSA for a Day’, we’d love you to come on board as soon as you can. One-off donations of any amount are also welcome. All details are on the website.

Bearing fruit: We can’t run CSA without your generous support.  It really is making a difference and, together, we can all help CSA to flourish. Our aim is to be witnesses for Jesus on our beaches. To love others. To be inclusive. To share our lives. To share Jesus’ love. And to bear fruit for Him. And the preparation work we are doing now will bear fruit even sweeter than mango season.

CSA National Gathering - 2014 WA

National Gathering 2014 is shaping up to be an explosive conference of immense proportions. As it's being held in our fair nation's surfing capital, we are expecting big things. CS crew should ready themselves to be as challenged by the sessions as they can the waves, but ultimately I reckon everyone will come away encouraged, stoked and with awesome memories that will last a lifetime. As the RC of WA I have only two recommendations, start praying and asking God to prep your hearts, and if you're from Queensland, buy a board that's more than 5 foot long... All National Gathering information with be in the Summer Edition of INSIDE..

Q&A with Jess Hardeman - CSA National Prayer Coordinator

What compelled you to do this role....

In 2012 the position of Prayer Coordinator came up. I felt a pull at my heart to do it but had too many other plans & commitments of my own will. Then at the start of this year I felt I had a Jonah experience and was swallowed by a giant fish... I found myself asking God what to do with my life. The prayer role was the only thing that made sense for me. I don't have any answers, any amazing talents or gifts but I believe in a God who is a healer. A God full of grace, love, compassion and mercy who is in the business of restoring lives. Who hears our cries and POWERFULLY answers our prayers. I have been so blessed with amazing mentors who have spoken into my life and taught me how to hear God's voice. This transformed my faith and my prayer life. For me prayer is intimacy with God and I don't see how faith without this relationship could exist. My hope and passion is that I am able to bless and pass on the amazing gift that was given to me - a heart and a passion to hear & discern God's voice. (However, by no means am I an expert in this area and after stepping into this role I have become aware of how much I don't know.)

I love prayer because the creator and king of this universe listens & speaks to me. How can we not want to pray!! Xxx
