Creating a home pilgrimage

Day 10: Create a home pilgrimage

We've reached the final day of our Spiritual Journey together. I hope it's been a source of encouragement and inspiration for you.

Today we look at bringing everything together and creating out own spiritual pilgrimage at home.

When we go on pilgrimage we leave our homes and travel to a holy place in order to pray and become closer to God. However, our homes are also holy places and as we move around them, we can pray as much as we would if we went away on pilgrimage.

We have a number of guides and resources on our website which we share with you today.

In the meantime, we'd love to hear your feedback. Has this programme been useful?

Begin your home pilgrimage journey

To create a home pilgrimage, you simply apply these three principles:

  • Journey: set an intention to take time out.
  • Engagement: Connecting with yourself.
  • Encounter: Connect with God.

A home pilgrimage is like a retreat. We are invited to leave the routine of our daily lives, even for a moment, to take care of our mental, spiritual and physical needs.

Home Retreat from Ampleforth Abbey

"God, life, have something to say to you, to show you, if you are willing to pause for a moment, to slow down your headlong rush into the future, your restless quest for the next thing – just to be present and listen."

This series of home retreat sermons offers you another chance to explore stillness and the presence of God. Visit their website to read suggestions for using this sermon as a basis for your home retreat.

The first video is below and their Home Retreat playlist can be found on YouTube and their website (search for home retreat).

Thank you for journeying with us.
