Call for Nominations for Governor and Vice Chair (2016-2018 term)

Dear CCCJ Members,    

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ) is governed by a Board of Governors (including the Chair and Vice-Chair) of 8-15 Members, each of whom is elected by the Members of the CCCJ for two-year terms.

All Members in good-standing are eligible and encouraged to nominate candidates for the Board of Governors, including the position of Vice-Chair, for the 2016-2018 term. 

The Board of Governors’ mandate is to direct the business affairs of the CCCJ, determine the policies and priorities of the CCCJ and supervise the management of the CCCJ. As representatives of the Members of the CCCJ, the Governors establish strategic objectives, approve major financial transactions, and review and approve operating budgets, to ensure that the CCCJ is managed to meet the needs of the Members and maintain financial stability.

In principle, Governors meet approximately ten times a year.  In addition, most Governors serve on one or more committees, to deal with specific issues or initiatives.

Prospective Governors come from all walks of life and bring varied experience to the Board of Governors. All Governors share an interest in business between Canada and Japan and a desire to help the CCCJ reach its objectives.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO THE CCCJ BOARD OF GOVERNORS (2016-2018 TERM)

August 10, 2016

The Nominations Committee hereby calls for nominations to the CCCJ Board of Governors for up to five (5) positions as Governor including the position of Vice-Chair (the current Vice-Chair has moved back to Canada) for the 2016-2018 term commencing from the date of the 2016 Annual Election (currently scheduled for late September 2016).

As a Member, you are entitled to nominate fellow Members to the above positions. If you wish to nominate more than one Member, please copy this form and submit one nomination on each form.  If you wish to be nominated, please request another Member to nominate you. A Governor with a term expiring at the 2017 Annual Election may be nominated for Vice-Chair for the 2016-2018 term.

Please return a scanned copy of the below nomination form below to the Chair of the Nominations Committee at the e-mail indicated below by no later than Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
