WALLY FOREMAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the 2018 Wally Foreman Foundation scholarship will open Monday 10 September 2018. The Wally Foreman Foundation will consider applications from registered Western Australian athletes or coaches who have a specific financial need to assist their progress towards sporting honours. EA COACHING UPDATE

EA has released a statement addressing the recent coaching insurance fee increases. They have also outlined the ways in which they plan to address the current EA Coaching Program over the next 12 months, amid concerns of slipping standards from members. MORE

2019 EVENT DATES

EWA affiliated clubs should have received an email from EWA this week with an expression of interest form for 2019 event dates. Please return the form to EWA by Friday 19 October. If your club did not receive this form, please email members@equestrianwa.org.au or call 9296 1200.

ELIGIBILITY TO COMPETE STATEMENT FROM EWA

Recently the eligibility of Suzanne Simons and Foxwood Whirlwind to compete in Dressage competitions at Grand Prix level was questioned by EWA members. EWA has reviewed their performances and can clarify that they are eligible to compete in FEI classes since first qualifying in 2014 to compete at PSG and Intermediate I. The combination has continued to meet eligibility for FEI classes in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 that they have competed in.

YOUNG EVENT HORSE & EVENTING GRAND PRIX ENTRIES OPEN

Entries for the 2018 Horseland Young Event Horse & Eventing Grand Prix on 29 & 30 September at the State Equestrian Centre are now open on Nominate. If you own a young eventing prospect, or you want to take part in WA's best Eventing Grand Prix, don't miss out on this event! Entries close 19 September or when full.

SAM JONES SELECTED FOR WEG ENDURANCE TEAM

We are pleased to announce the WA endurance athlete, Samantha Jones, has been selected as a member of the Australian Endurance Team competing at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Tyron, USA, from 11-13 September. Samantha was instated following the unfortunate euthanisation of FLF Go Flight Leader, owned and ridden by Jodie Salinas, following fatal complications subsequent to colic. MORE

NATIONAL INTERSCHOOL RULE CHANGES

The National Interschool Rules have had a major tidy up effective immediately. The new rule additions include:

• No stallions in Interschool
• 105 Secondary Combined Training
• Rider with a disability exemptions
• International team invitations
• Clarification of exactly how the overall awards are awarded at the National Championships
• The use of the EA Dressage Rules Championship scoring system (35pts - 1) to bring all states into line.

HOTY COMPETITOR INFORMATION

Measuring
Official measuring will be available on Friday 7 & Saturday 8 September at the State Equestrian Centre (measuring bay located near the stable wash bays) from 7:00-10:00am. Horses do not need to be competing in HOTY to get measured, however no stallions are permitted.

VALE CLAIRE PARKER

The EWA Show Horse Committee was saddened to hear that Claire, the daughter of Leonie and Ian Parker, passed away on Friday August 10. The Parker family have always been an important part of the Equestrian WA Show Horse community. Claire will be sadly missed by us all and our heartfelt sympathy is with Isabelle and with Leonie, Ian, Cecile and Brendan.
