Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Updated Visitor Restrictions - Calvary Ryde Retirement Community

Dear Resident or Family Member,

The COVID-19 situation in NSW continues to improve. This week, the NSW Government removed the Local Government Areas of Bankstown (localities of former Bankstown LGA: Revesby, Bankstown and Bass Hill), Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Fairfield and Hunter’s Hill from the list of identified COVID-19 hotspots.

While the situation is improving, a number of NSW Local Government Areas remain on the list of NSW Health COVID-19 hotspots. Due to the heightened risk, visitors who have been in the following LGAs in the past 14 days will not be permitted entry at this time: Campbelltown LGA, Liverpool LGA, and Parramatta LGA.

In addition to the above, any visitor who has been in Victoria in the past 14 days will not be permitted entry. Current COVID-19 hotspots are listed on the NSW Government website.

What does this mean for residents and families?

  • Any one visitor per resident will be permitted to visit between 11am and 6pm daily for no longer than two hours each day. Calvary will be permitting visitation of a maximum of one (1) visitor per resident per day.
  • Special exceptions to visitation rules. Exceptions may apply for visitors of residents at end of life, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a care and support role is provided by a visitor. Please speak with the manager of your home to discuss arrangements.
  • Visitors from Victoria or a NSW hotspot are not permitted. Due to increased risk, visitors who have been in any part of Victoria or a NSW hotspot in the past 14 days are currently not permitted to visit this facility.
  • Visitors younger than 16 years. Consistent with the latest NSW Government advice, child visitors will be permitted to visit. Child visitors must remain with their adult carer at all times.
  • Visitors must wear a face mask. Consistent with the latest NSW Health advice, visitors and staff are required to wear a surgical face mask at all times. Where a visitor does not provide their own mask, or the mask does not meet requirements, Calvary will provide a mask upon entry.
  • Influenza vaccination is required. As required by the Commonwealth Department of Health from 1 May 2020, any visitor must have had this year’s seasonal Influenza vaccine. You will be asked to provide your proof of vaccination or certification from your doctor outlining the medical reason for not being vaccinated before entry is permitted.
  • Screening and temperature checks. Introduced in April, screening questions and temperature checks for all visitors and staff will continue. If a visitor is found to have an elevated temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or greater, entry will not be permitted.
  • Visiting a resident in shared accommodation. Where a resident shares a room with another resident, we require any visitor to please contact the facility before your visit.
  • Visiting will be limited to the resident’s room. Social/physical distancing of a single person per 4 square metres as well as 1.5 metres separation at all times will still be required within the resident’s room. We ask for your support and cooperation in ensuring that the number of people within each room is consistent with the social/physical distance guidance in place within the community.
  • Hand hygiene is important. Remember to please use the hand sanitiser stations at the entrance and throughout the facility regularly.

We understand that COVID-19 restrictions can be difficult for residents and families and are pleased to be able to take this next step in easing restrictions on visitation.

As the COVID-19 situation in NSW continues to evolve, Calvary may need to reintroduce restrictions on visitation with limited notice. We will continue to monitor the advice of NSW Health and will keep you informed of any developments.
