Wotton Area Mutual Aid Volunteer Newsletter WAMA VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER #2We know that many people will look to family and friends for assistance during the Covid-19 outbreak, and Wotton Area Mutual Aid group is here to make sure that no one is left alone, by connecting people in need, with volunteers who are available to help out FREE SOUP TRIAL - a job for WAMA Volunteers! Local Chef, Trevor Harris has donated 500 portions of vegetable soup for distribution in Wotton to anyone who needs them. They are made from ingredients donated by local closed pubs in Trevor’s quarantined kitchen. The soup will be cooked today for collection from Wotton Baptist Church tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday and is suitable for consumption or home freezing by Saturday. Portions are provided in recyclable containers. To order soup people will call the Baptist Church on 01453 844726 between 9 a.m -12 on Thursday and Friday mornings. If you know anyone who could benefit from this generous offer, please let them know.. These orders will then be grouped and added to our spreadsheet to be delivered by Wotton Area Mutual Aid volunteers. Please check the spreadsheet on Thursday and Friday morning and sign up. This is a test-run which could be repeated should the crisis become prolonged and need arise. Please do spread the word. New Process for Collecting Prescriptions We now have a process agreed with Lloyds pharmacy for picking up prescriptions so that we don't have lots of volunteers arriving and waiting to pick up. When someone requests help on the online form, they can say if they want a prescription picking up. They are then directed to a new form to say if they pay, how big the prescription is etc. These are then emailed by the WAMA administrators to Lloyds at 2pm. We will then put jobs on our spreadsheet asking for volunteers to go to Lloyds at 5pm and where they will need to deliver to afterwards. When they arrive at Lloyds each prescription will have the patient name and address it needs to be delivered to on the printed label. Posters and leaflets This evening and tomorrow morning we will be adding jobs to the spreadsheet to deliver batches of leaflets around Wotton. We will give you a timeslot and they can be picked up from The Keepers at that time on Symn Lane (next to Bluecoat School). Please only deliver on your own or with 1 other member of your family and distance yourself from others out on the streets. Please use gloves for distribution and then wash/dispose of them afterward. Please keep to the designated time so there aren't too many people at the keepers. If you would like to print your own, click here Bookmark the spreadsheet! As we've said before, the spreadsheet is cleared once jobs are done so it can sometimes seem empty. That's a good thing! Please keep checking. To stop you from having to keep looking for the link, we suggest you "bookmark" the link so it is easy to find.
