Paella Extravaganza and Rename Ceremony

For those who weren’t able to make it to this marvelous event on Saturday night, April 6th, Tom and Teri Wickman, along with Pauline and Keith Jones, cooked up a paella feast worthy of any found even in Valencia, Spain. After a great renaming ceremony for Leslie and Jim Fish's boat performed by our Commodore, Peter Blackmore, a crowd of at least fifty feasted on the savory rice and seafood specialty, or quenched their thirst with Sangria served at the bar. Our thanks go out to these troopers, along with Deidra Sparks who helped out with the party.

Tin Cup Cruise Out to Coyote Point Yacht Club - April 20

Listen my cruisers and you shall hear
Of the weekend sail to north of here
On the twentieth of April, in year Thirteen,
Hardly a sailor in between
Who will forget that glorious day
He said to his crew, “If Sequoia crowd
Come by land or sea from south to-day,
Fly a burgee proudly aloft from the shroud
Of your vessel or golf cart while underway, --
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the Coyote shore will be,
Ready to welcome you at the pier
Through every Sequoia ship as appear
For the cruising party to be up in cheer

Summer is coming - it is time for a Garden Party!

On Sunday June 2- it is my pleasure to invite the club to a Garden Party at the Blackmore's. The event is from 2-6pm.

What is a garden party? Well, it is an open house but primarily garden centric, and you will meet many of your Sequoia friends.

There will be crazy English things like a Ragtime Band. There will also be a Beer tent, one of the better English traditions; a wine bar (which we inherited from the French); a cocktail bar with Pimms and Bucks Fizz, soft drinks such as Iced tea and lemonade; and of course strawberries and cream (just like Wimbledon). And we shall have other hors d'ourves that go with wine and beer - such as cheeses and cold meats. And did I mention cucumber sandwiches.....

All are welcome!

More to come so this is simply a 'Save the Date'. One afternoon with a chance to relax, take a day off the water and have a lot of fun. Unlike England we are pretty much guaranteed to have a sunny day!!

See you there!

Peter - your Commodore
