What's on in Redland City during November?Redland Libraries has an amazing line-up of literary greats and workshops throughout November as part of RedWrites 2016. Don’t miss Author-in-Action talks from Fiona McIntosh, Brad and Karina Haddin. There are also workshops for budding writers or those looking to publish a book, including Inspired to Publish with Ocean Reeve or Blogging for Money with Janet Camilleri. Save the date and start the festive season at the Redland City Christmas tree lighting on Friday 2 December at 6:15pm. Council’s biggest and best-loved community event, Christmas by Starlight, will light up Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton, on Sunday 18 December. Keep an eye on Council’s website for updates on the program, which promises to build on last year’s hugely successful event at picturesque Mt Cotton. Support services coming to SMBIsResidents of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands will soon have regular access to a wider variety of community support, with 10 organisations to provide outreach services at the SMBI Community and Wellbeing Hub on Macleay Island. The initiative will be officially launched during a free community event that will feature the organisations involved. If you’ve ever ridden, run or walked a trail in the Redlands, there’s a fair chance it was created, groomed or otherwise maintained by a quiet but dedicated team. The Redlands Trailcare group is a small, dedicated crew of volunteers who give up their own time to make sure others have quality trails to enjoy. Australia Day Awards - nominations close soonIf you know of someone who has made an outstanding contribution to our City this year, why not nominate them for a 2017 Redland City Australia Day Award? Another win for the Redlands Track ParkThe accolades keep coming for Redland City’s outdoor recreation and events, with major wins at the recent Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation Awards.

RSL Club, Passage Street, Cleveland Learn more advanced thinking about tying online to offline marketing, digital public relations and how to amplify your brand using social media. This workshop will also touch on managing issues, and having a policy or agency to manage those issues. Places for business workshops are limited so book online early to avoid disappointment. Local history - Flying boats at Redland BayDid you know that Redland Bay used to be a flying boat base? It was operational between 1953 and 1972.
