Gatheting Voices April newsletter Way', ki'su'k kyukyit, tawnshi, A short update with some brief snapshots from March and important information highlighting our second speaker in our Reconciliation Speaker Series - Leroy Littlebear! Our first speaker, Dr. Evan Adams, launched our Reconciliation Speaker Series on March 7th with his talk entitled "Two-Eyed Seeing: Implementing the TRC Calls to Action in Health". It was a great turnout for an informative talk that centered on the Indigenous concept of two-eyed Seeing, cultural safety, personal stories of resilience, and implementing the TRC Calls to action in health. We will send moew updates later this month about whats coming up this season, hopefully the snow will be melted and Spring will be fully here by then! Tickets are $10 and $5 for students. This is a huge opportunity to see a very influential Indigenous thinker, academic, change-maker in our small mountain town - you don't want to miss out! Ongoing Programming with Aboriginal Services Cultural Expressions with Ann-Marie Cultural Expressions continues every Thursday at the Gathering Place in Castlegar from 10-2pm, Join us for crafts, storytelling, legends and teachings. All supplies and a light lunch provided. All students and staff are welcome. Ann-Marie will be visiting our Nakusp learning centre on Nakusp on Monday April 9th from 11-2pm. Celebrating Indigenous Student Grads and our Elders - April 26th 10:30am. All Indigenous graduating Selkirk College students are welcome to join us at the Gathering Place to honour the achievements of our Indigenous graduates with their families, a large group of our Elders, as well as our Aboriginal College community.
