He Tohu is a new permanent exhibition of three iconic constitutional documents that shape Aotearoa New Zealand. It lives at the National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa in a stunning new state-of-the-art conservation space, designed to preserve the documents for generations to come. The day includes presentations, exhibition tours, the Amazing Travelling Photo Booth, and special guests Julian and Christian Dennison. Te Nama o te wiki (Number of the week) Strong growth in international visitor numbers and spending is forecast for New Zealand's tourism sector, with international visitors projected to spend $15.3 billion annually by 2023, according to the New Zealand Tourism Forecasts 2017-2023. Highlights from the Tourism Forecasts 2017-2023 include - International visitor arrivals to New Zealand are forecast to reach 4.9 million visitors a year in 2023 (from 3.5 million in 2016, up 39 per cent), equating to a growth rate of 4.8 per cent per year. - China is expected to contribute to 37 per cent of total international visitor growth from 2016 to 2023, and 51 per cent of total visitor spending. - Australia is forecast to remain the largest source of visitor arrivals over the forecast period, contributing 1.8 million annual visitors to New Zealand by 2023, up 25 per cent from 2016. Entries open for NZ Tourism Awards 2017 Entries are now open for the prestigious New Zealand Tourism Awards 2017. The awards programme celebrates individuals and organisations that are fast-tracking the industry towards its Tourism 2025 $41 billion annual revenue goal. There are three individual awards for tourism industry leaders across the generations, eight business awards (including the He kai kei aku ringa Māori Tourism Award) and a People’s Choice award. The winners will be announced at a gala Awards Dinner in Christchurch on 7 September 2017. China Ready lands in NZ, slaps seal of approval on THLThe China Ready & Accredited system has launched in New Zealand with Tourism Holdings Limited (THL) becoming the first company here to earn the seal of approval. The accreditation system, managed by the China Ready Group, identifies products and services around the world suitable for Chinese travellers. The approval system is spreading as the Chinese travel market increases. Chinese tourists now make up New Zealand’s second-largest tourism market, behind Australia, with more than 400,000 visitors arriving last year.
