ANZKX communique regarding the transition from MMEx to OrganMatch
The ANZKX team would like to inform transplant units of planned changes to the ANZKX registration process and data management that will be introduced over coming months.
This year, the ANZKX, the Organ and Tissue Authority and the OrganMatch team have been working on changes to OrganMatch to develop a single system for donor and recipient registration, matching and management of offers in the ANZKX program.
These changes will mean that donor and recipient clinical
data will be entered into OrganMatch, instead of MMEx, leading to the phasing out of MMEx by the end of this year.
These changes will occur in several stages over the next 4 months.
The first stage will occur in late September when then OrganMatch Transplantation Portal will contain new data fields for clinical information for people registered in ANZKX.
We will provide training to transplant coordinators for the use of the portal in October and following that we will ask that units update these data fields for their patients. During this time patient data will be updated in both MMEx and OrganMatch.
The second phase will be rolled out towards the end of the year. This will allow
direct registration of patients into OrganMatch by the transplant units and at that time we will stop the use of MMEx.
There will be a final stage of Offer management which will be delivered either in late 2021 or early 2022.
Overall, this new system will streamline the registration of patients and donors into ANZKX. It will also allow the ANZKX team to use a single system and avoid the need to manually transfer and check data, reducing the chance of data errors and delays.
We will provide more information regarding these changes as they are rolled out.
