EO's Report

Dear all,
Great news to start the newsletter with - the Statewide Outdoor Recreation Framework is back and underway. QORF and the Queensland Government departments have all been working hard to finalise the project plans that fit under each of the commitments. Watch the QORF and NPSR website for updates and projects start to hit the ground.

In late 2014 and early 2015 QORF with support of the State Wide Mountain Bike Regional Solution and Advocacy Working Group finalised the Developing Mountain Biking in Queensland: Regional Solutions proposal. This document looks at a selection of shovel ready, regionally significant trail development priorities in Queensland. We will be presenting the document back to the wider community at the upcoming forum on May 12 (see below for more details). A huge thank you to Donna Little from Way To Be for developing this document.

The QORF and Australian Camps Association offices have been very busy developing a great program for the Kids Outdoors 2030 conference on the Gold Coast. As you can see we have specifically sourced hands on presenters that have deliver real world outcomes.

Even the usual “boring” conference dinner has been replaced with a night at the beautiful Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which will have hands on animal encounters. With 3 specific but related strands there will be interest from camps and commercial operators, instructors and group leaders, teachers and school principals, day care and outside school hours care providers. The early bird rate is still available so jump on to the conference website sooner rather than later.

For those of you in the State's South East hope you stay dry and fingers crossed this weather does not eventuate into anything nasty. For those of you in the west hope this rain makes it out to you and for the rest up north we know you will be living life outdoors with your sunny 30 degree days!

Yours in the outdoors!
Murray Stewart
