Shoppers can visit byADL.com.au, purchase from numerous retailers all in one transaction and receive next day delivery within 50km of the city. AEDA's new board memberCity of Adelaide Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith has joined AEDA's board. Dr Lomax-Smith, who has been a city business owner, understands the opportunities for collaboration across business, adjoining councils, as well as other levels of government. For eight years she was the State MP for Adelaide, holding portfolios in tourism, small business and education. She also served as Lord Mayor of Adelaide from 1997 until 2000. Shopfront Improvement GrantsMore than 130 businesses across the city were given funds to revamp their shop's façade and outdoor area as part of the City of Adelaide and AEDA's Shopfront Improvement Grants scheme. From murals adorned on city shopfronts, new furniture or outdoor dining area spruce ups, city businesses have undergone significant facelifts as part of the initiative. Adelaide boasts recording-breaking hotel occupancyAdelaide recorded an all-time high for hotel occupancy in November following a blockbuster month of events. South Australian Tourism Commission data showed hotel room bookings were strongest during the inaugural Harvest Rock Festival, which celebrated good music, food, wine and brew. KWY Aboriginal CorporationKWY Aboriginal Corporation is hosting The National Aboriginal Child Safety and Domestic Violence Summit 2023: Strong Families, Safer Children at the Pullman Hotel, Adelaide from 29 – 31 March 2023. The Summit will bring together guest speakers to stimulate new and innovative pathways to address the national issues of child safety, domestic and Aboriginal family violence across Australia. Keynote Speakers include Dr Tracy Westerman, Stan Grant and Muriel Bamblett. Austrade Export winnersLot Fourteen business MyVenue, a cloud-based point-of-sale solution, has taken home the Emerging Exporter honour at the Austrade Export Awards on November 24. Fivecast, which moves into the city next year, took out the Advanced Technologies section. The Austrade Export Awards celebrate the achievements of Australian businesses exporting home-grown innovation to the world. Accolade Wines and ODD Games were also among city finalists. Discrimination bill passedEmployers and persons conducting a business will have to take reasonable steps to prevent conduct that constitutes sex discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation and a hostile workplace environment following updated laws. The Anti-Discrimination and Human Rights Legislation Amendment (Respect at Work) Bill 2022 was passed on November 28 to support employees. Protecting women in the cityThe City of Adelaide is partnering with hospitality venues to launch a new pilot program to improve women’s safety in licensed premises. Project Night Light is a 12-month project that aims to create a safer nightlife setting in pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants by training staff about how they can help protect their female patrons and improve safety at their venue. North Adelaide children's shoe shop joins byADL.com.auBuying the perfect pair of children’s kicks online is no easy feat, but it was an avenue iconic children’s shoe shop Ollie Ashenden had to explore to “get with the times”. Danielle Elliott decided to open Ollie Ashenden’s online sister store — Little Treads — to offer busy working mums and regional customers an online alternative. Little Treads is now part of byADL.com.au, Australia's first city digital marketplace. Employees with a disability2022 Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott has launched new website for employees with a disability. It connects accessible employers with people with a disability that are looking for an inclusive job. Both employees and employers can use the portal. Development Grants OpenApplications for Green Industries SA's 2022–23 Circular Economy Market Development Grant Program are now open. Grants are available for councils, industry associations, not-for-profit organisations, research institutes and businesses. |
