Adelaide's Long Lunch - AEDA's first campaignAEDA is excited to share our first campaign. It's no secret that local businesses have been hit hard by Covid-19. Adelaide's Long Lunch campaign is designed to stimulate economic activity specifically for hospitality and experience businesses in the CBD and North Adelaide. The campaign will attract people into the city by subsidising lunch or an experience and encourage them to remain in the city for shopping, to attend events or participate in other activities. AEDA is giving away 5,000 x $30 vouchers to the public to redeem at participating businesses. We're calling on businesses to get involved. Registrations are now open. 'Market Square' $400m redevelopment approvedThe City of Adelaide and ICD Property last week announced approval of the $400 million development application for the Central Market Arcade Redevelopment. The redevelopment will see an enhanced and expanded Central Market and residential apartments, hotel, office accommodation and retail owned by ICD Property which is to be named "Market Square". This catalytic investment will showcase the best of South Australian makers and producers and secure the future of the Market District for future generations. Construction is scheduled to begin this year to be completed in three and half years. Adelaide Food Fringe back on the table: register nowThe Adelaide Food Fringe, proudly supported by the City of Adelaide, will return for a second shot at an inaugural event with an expanded nine-day festival program from Friday 7 May to Sunday 16 May. The open-access food festival encourages all food and beverage businesses, brewers, wineries, distilleries, venues, clubs, producers, multicultural communities and cultural institutions to share their food and beverage experience by becoming part of their 2021 program line-up. Registrations close on 15 March. $10k grants for business adviceSmall and medium-sized enterprises can apply for up to $10,000 in matched funding from the SA Government to access professional advisory service to help support business growth and transformation. Talk to a registered tax professional or business advisor to help you work through the kit. Ban on single-use plasticsSouth Australia's ban on single-use plastic comes into effect on 1 March 2021. Single-use plastic straws, stirrers and cutlery will be prohibited from sale, supply and distribution in South Australia, except upon request for a disability or health reasons. These items can be replaced with reusable and compostable alternatives, such as metal and wooden cutlery. A list of alternatives can be found on the Replace the Waste website. Expanded eligibility to start a businessThe New Enterprise Incentive Scheme provides new micro-businesses with support like training, mentoring, rental assistance and/or an allowance. Recent changes to the scheme mean that existing small businesses may also be eligible for this support, to help keep your business running or refocus operations through COVID-19. |
