Click here Regional street cleaning crews preparing to clean hundreds of kilometres of roads this springMarch 19, 2026 As the winter season draws to a close, Niagara Region Road Operations staff are beginning preparations to deploy a number of annual spring road maintenance programs that involve cleaning and sweeping more than 800 kms of Regional roads across Niagara. Crews use various methods to clear roads of all of kinds of debris and material that accumulate on the vast road network, including:
These important tasks help clean up what winter leaves behind, such as loose gravel and sand, and prepare Niagara's Regional roads for the busy, active spring and summer seasons. Motorists may notice a more winter debris on roads than usual and the clean-up process may take longer than normal. Motorists are encouraged to have extra patience while this work is underway. For road users, particularly motorcyclists and bicyclists, be aware and remain alert; loose debris can be a hazard and cause you to lose traction.
