Exciting WAMA news!

WAMA NEWSLETTER #16

9th April 2021

EXCITING NEWS FOR WAMA!!

As you may already know, we have taken the decision to close WAMA on 16th April. This is partly due to the relaxing of lockdown restriction and the ending of shielding for many clinically vulnerable people, but mainly because we are now ready to launch our fantastic new Community Hub in Wotton.

You can have a look at our new website here: https://www.thekeepers.org.uk/

We can't say exactly what will be on offer at The Keepers, but we are in the process of analysing the 700 community surveys that we received from individuals and existing groups, services and organisations. We really wanted people to have their say and it was also important that we don't duplicate things already on offer, but work in partnership with some of the many fantastic things already happening in our area.

The Freezer of Love will continue to open on a Monday (8.30am to 11.00am) and Thursday (3.00pm til 6.00pm).

We are aiming for the Hub to be somewhere for people to feel welcome and offers a wide range of services helping people to feel connected and supported. There is also a meeting room for existing local groups to use and we will offer a signposting service to existing organisations.

Following the great news that we received a grant from Stroud District Council, our new Hub Manager starts next week.

Although it is sad when good things come to an end,  we are really excited to be launching something more permanent that will meet the needs of our community in the long term.

As WAMA is closing, we will be deleting the information we hold about our volunteers. If you would like to be kept on the mailing list of the Community Hub and receive updates of services and how to stay involved, please complete this simple form: http://bit.ly/Keepersmailinglist

We will also be recruiting some Community Hub volunteers. This is for a mixture of regular tasks and helping out on a one-off basis for a specific project. If you would like to be on our volunteer lists, please complete the section at the bottom of the form.

We are really excited about the opening of the Hub, and it would be great to have some of you involved.
