News, Funding, Training Opportunities etc for Barnet VCOs

Welcome to the Barnet Together newsletter featuring news, grants, training opportunities and much more, which this week includes a new member of the team, Judi Dumont-Barter.

With this week being Volunteers' Week, we want to take this opportunity to thank all those who are supporting Barnet's Voluntary and Community Sector by  volunteering. So whether you are on the end of a phone as part of a befriending service, helping to keep our green spaces looking gorgeous, or ensuring that an organisation is fiscally sound as a Trustee, just know we are incredible grateful for all that you do.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021 is now open

Up to £25,000 match funding available.

How does it work?
The Christmas Challenge is a match funding campaign where donations to participating charities are doubled. The match funds come from two sources - charities secure some of these (Pledges) over the summer. These funds are then boosted by funds from a Big Give Champion who contributes to the match fund. This collective pot is used to double donations from online supporters when the campaign is live from midday on 30 November 2021 (Giving Tuesday) to midday on 7 December.

Young Trustees Movement Champion Training

When 1 in 12 trustees are named either John or David and fewer than 3% of trustees are under 30. It’s no secret that board diversity is an issue.

Join the Young Trustees Movement in changing that.

By the end of their FREE 1 hour workshop you will:

  • Be able to articulate and understand how young trustees can enable organisations to navigate uncertainty, future proof decisions and reflect the interest of their communities.
  • Have a framework to understand how to approach diversity on boards.
  • Be able to run a session with a board to plan practical and achievable next steps.

Tuesday 8 June, 12noon to 1pm

Healthwatch Barnet - Remote GP Consultation Project

COVID-19 has accelerated the use of digital technology in health and social care services. Using technology to access GP practices can and has produced several advantages. However, accessing GP practices remotely does also have limitations.

Healthwatch Barnet is working on a project to gain insight into Barnet residents’ experiences, both positive and negative, of using their GP practice remotely. Residents’ experiences will be shared with the local Clinical Commissioning Group and GP practices as they plan for how residents will access GP practices in the future.

Complete the survey or contact Healthwatch Barnet to arrange a 1-2-1 telephone interview or focus group.

If you would like any assistance in completing the survey or would like it in another format, please contact info@healthwatchbarnet.co.uk or call 020 3475 1308.

As a token of appreciation, Healthwatch Barnet will be entering every person who completes the survey into a prize draw to win one of two £50 Amazon vouchers.
