Final update!

Hello everyone!  It's the last update of the year--I'm sad I won't be dyeing for a while, but I'm hoping I come back from my little sabbatical with lots of fresh ideas and outlook.  I'll continue to be available through email, facebook, twitter and ravelry for questions or comments, so if you think of anything I need to know feel free to drop me a line!  Yarn will continue to ship for the rest of the year as well, except for a few short breaks when I'll be out of town or postal holidays.

Make sure to keep String Theory Colorworks in your inbox folders, because I'll be sending out a super awesome announcment at the beginning of December that I'm sure a LOT of you will be adding to your holiday gift lists ;)

While you're waiting...

If you're looking for things to knit or crochet while you're waiting for the new year, I've put together a few lists of patterns (free and paid) that I think would work wonderfully with self striping.  This is just a very short list--if you like this idea, I can try to find one or two new patterns to include in each new newsletter.  Send me an email if you have any pattern suggestions!

All links are to the Ravelry pattern pages--if you aren't currently on Ravelry, I strongly recommend joining.  It's a FREE site that has a ridiculous pattern and yarn database that is an invaluble source of info and help to any yarnie crafter.

Cowls:

  • Tidepool Cowl by Cayli Malone (paid)--this cowl isn't specifically written for self striping, but the chevron pattern would look great in any complex striper.
  • Chevron Delight Infinity Scarf by Louise Fitzpatrick (free)--another great cowl pattern, this one is knit back and forth in a chevron pattern that really shows off the stripes.

Socks:

  • Jamaican Me Crazy by Adrienne Fong (paid)--Originally designed with STCW in Binary System.  What could be better?
  • Groovy Socks by Caroline Hegwer (free)--I've seen this pattern knit up in a lot of different self stripers, and it looks AMAZING.  If you scroll down to the bottom of the pattern page a pair of socks in Kinetic Energy are pictured.

Hats:

  • Sockhead Hat by Kelly McClure (free)--I've knit this pattern 3 times already and have plans for more.  Works great in self striping or variegated or solid yarns, and is fantastic movie or commute or hanging out knitting.
  • Swirl Hat by Mandie Harrington (free)--This pattern is wonderful; with sizes from preemie to adult, you could knit this hat for anyone on your list in no time at all.

And now to the yarn!
