Happy Friday!

It's Friday!  You know what that means?  New yarn in the shop time!!  I'm all refreshed from my little hiatus (well, as much as one can be when one spends that time chasing a fractious 2 year old), so I'm ready to go to dye dye dye!

This week I'm starting with my new shop update format--there will be a few colors for sale each week, plus a limited number of special order listings for both stripey and solid heel skeins.  I'll try to dye those orders up as soon as I can, and the extras will be listed in the next shop update.  I've changed the listing for the stripey special orders as well--you can now request a new color through that avenue as well.  Please be sure that the email address you put on your listing both works, and is one you check frequently.   If I can't get a hold of you I'll have to cancel your order :(

Ribes Nigrum

To start off this week, we've got a new additon to the colorway lineup in the shop!  I did a test batch of this 2 years ago as Chrismtas presents for a few of my very close knitting friends, and I liked it so much I decided to make it a regular colorway!  Ribes Nigrum is a complex stripey with 7 rows aubergine, 3 rows cabernet, 7 rows aubergine, 3 rows forest green, 7 rows aubergine, and 3 rows brown.  You can see how it knits up here.

Ribes Nigrum is the scientific name for blackcurrants.  The blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) is a woody shrub in the family Grossulariaceae grown for its piquant berries.  The fruit is rich in vitamin C, various other nutrients, phytochemicals and antioxidants.

Patterns!

In keeping with what I did in the previous newsletter, here are a few more pattern suggestions for your self striping yarn :)

Spatterdashette--I think this shawlette pattern would be absolutely wonderful with a stripey body and a contrasting solid edge.  I'm planning one in Trifolium with a sapphire border as soon as I finish my other WIPs :)

Great Weekend Mitts--I'm currently knitting these with a skein of fingering held double, but you could also use a skein of Mass or Space instead :)  And, bonus, this one's free!  You can see my version (what I've got done), here.
