China Approved Species List For Australian seafoodThe Seafood Trade Advisory Group has again followed up with the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment in regards to the submitted application to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) in June 2020 in line with GACC’s new requirements for the listing of three new aquatic products species (prioritised by STAG in consultation with industry in 2019). The department advised Friday that unfortunately the Chinese side has been unresponsive and there has been no progress on the Approved Species List and application. The Seafood Trade Advisory Group will continue to work with the department on this issue and keep the industry advised accordingly. Government export market briefingsAustrade is holding agribusiness-focused webinars on the Japan and Korea (25 May) and Middle East (26 May) markets. The briefings will include key insights on market opportunities and trends and information on how the Government is supporting Australian agribusiness and food exporters impacted by trade disruptions. 2021–22 draft agriculture export cost recovery implementation statements published for commentDraft export cost recovery implementation statements (CRIS) covering fish and eggs, and live export for 2021‑22 have been published on the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment’s website for public consultation. In line with government policy to recover the full cost of delivering its export regulatory services, the 2021–22 CRIS proposes updated prices for 2021–22 to 2024–25, including a stepped increase to full cost recovery. The draft CRIS proposes a new charging structure and describes the gradual annual increases in fees and charges over time from 1 July 2021 to full cost recovery in 2023–24. The government is seeking industry feedback on the appropriateness of the proposed arrangement and how the proposed arrangement outlined in the CRIS will impact you or your business. You can provide feedback on the department's Have Your Say platform by 10 June 2021. The draft CRIS for each export category can be selected on the right of the page. Export Market Development Grant program draft guidelines releasedAs foreshadowed in the last STAG TMAN, draft 2021 Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) Guidelines have been released for public consultation. The draft Guidelines provide practical guidance on how the new program will operate, including eligibility, timelines for the 2021–22 grant round, how to apply, and reporting requirements. Export legislation consultationsAustralia’s new agricultural export legislation, the Export Control Act 2020 and the Export Control Rules 2021, commenced on 28 March 2021. The Department of Agriculture is reviewing its process of developing and rolling out the new framework to improve future work.
