EOI FOR EVENT WORKING PARTY

EWA is seeking a group of enthusiastic individuals to assist in the organising of an Equitana-style equestrian evening to be held at the State Equestrian Centre in August. No event experience is necessary however applicants must have good communication and time management skills, along with the ability to attend the occasional weekday meeting. YALAMBI STUD GROOM/STABLEHAND POSITION (FULL TIME)

Situated in the beautiful Margaret River region, Yalambi Farm Stud, breeders of quality show jumping and performance horses, are seeking a full-time stud groom/stablehand to join their dynamic team.

Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role and be willing to work with foals, handle broodmares, assist with general breeding tasks, prepare horses for daily work, clean stables/tack and generally get involved in the day to day running of a professional barn. The position does require you to work weekends, use your initiative and be a team player but in return, Yalambi offers a competitive salary and accommodation on the farm. The role is also suited to travellers seeking a second-year visa.

ICDF APPLICATIONS OPEN

International Competition and Development Fund (ICDF) applications are now open for 2017/2018. The ICDF supports projects and events that either clearly fall into the “international competition” category or can be demonstrated to further the “development” of the sport in general or a particular discipline. CLUB EQUIPMENT SUBSIDY SCHEME

Applications for the Department of Sport and Recreation's Community Sporting Club Equipment Subsidy Scheme (CESS) are now open until 26 May 2017. Eligible sporting clubs have the opportunity to apply for $500 towards shared sporting equipment accessible to all members. MORE


COACHES

COACH RENEWALS OPEN 6 JUNE

EA this week announced that coaching renewals will open on 6 June 2017.

This year renewals will be processed entirely online via logging into your MyEA profile. As normal, EA will require coaches to submit copies of the following documents to ensure they still meet the re-accreditation requirements for holding a NCAS qualification:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of attendance to Coach Update within last 3 years
  • Insurance Certificate of Currency (if selecting the Registration Only option)
  • Coaching Activities Form completed

EA are currently working with Gow-Gates to finalise the insurance premiums for the 2017/18 financial year. Once this has been confirmed the renewal fee will be released. MORE

EWA MASTER COACHES SERIES 6: LATERAL SUBMISSION

Join EA NCAS Level 3 Dressage Coach Nadine Merewether on Wednesday 24 May at the State Equestrian Centre for the next instalment of the EWA Master Coaches Series!

Nadine will be discussing the importance of lateral submission, how it can be achieved, and its requirements through the grades with the help of demo riders. All supporters of the equestrian sport are invited to participate. The bar will be open from 6:30pm and a food van available.

Discounts available for EA NCAS coaches endorsing students as well as EA affiliated clubs.

EVENTING - NEW

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

2017 OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS TEAMS NAMED

Equestrian Australia this week announced the final teams for the 2017 Oceania Championships being held in conjunction with the Melbourne International 3 Day Event from June 8 -12. Congratulations to La Noir Saddleworld High Performance Squad member Tayah Andrew and Silverforce for being named as a reserve for the 2017 Young Rider Team. MORE

CONGRATULATIONS TO INTERSTATE COMPETITORS

Jumping WA and the EWA Jumping Committee commend all of our WA riders who recently competed in major Eastern States competitions - a huge effort and achievement with outstanding results. Through the EWA Riders' Levy Fund, they were pleased to provide some travel funding for those who applied for financial support.

SWAN RIVER SHOWJUMPING

NEW EARLIER START TIME for the Sunday 21 May show. Due to large entries, the first class on Sunday (90cm Blue Ribbon round) will now start at 7.30am.

  • Draws: Riders must be at the entry gate and ready to compete in draw order or risk disqualification from that class.
  • Parking: Floats and trucks park adjacent to the outdoor arena, not near the indoor arena (that's reserved for SRSJC committee, sponsors and riders with pre-arranged stabling only).
  • Manure, Hay & Rubbish: Must be cleaned up before leaving the grounds or we won't have this area for parking at future events. No parking means no more shows!
  • Classes 7A and 7B: Are now being run as Super 2-Phase (274.5.6). Competitors not eliminated in the first phase move directly into phase two without interruption.
  • Refreshments: Hey Pesto on site during the weekend.

The Pony Club WA Showjumping Committee will be conducting training workshops for potential and upgrading Pony Club WA and EA Showjumping Officials. All accredited and trainee Officials, Club Officials, Associate Riders and Members interested in Showjumping are invited to attend. The weekend will include elements for both Judges and Course Designers and the program will be designed to fit with the classes offered and helper duties (for parents of riders) over the weekend.
