Vaccines are now available to the general public. Anyone over 16 is now eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Because vaccine supplies are limited at the federal level, not everyone who is eligible will have access to the vaccine at the same time. Review the state's Vaccine FAQ (En Español). The City of Northglenn is currently in Level Yellow on the state's COVID-19 Dial. Tomorrow, April 16, Adams County will move to Level Blue under the Tri-County Health Department's new Public Health Order. The county will remain at this level through May 15. Then, subject to TCHD observation of hospital admission rates in Adams County, we will move to Level Clear on May 16. Level Clear includes only restrictions required by the State and face covering requirements. City Hall, Municipal Court, and the Maintenance & Operations Building are currently closed to the public until further notice. The Northglenn Recreation Center and Northglenn Senior Center are open by reservation/appointment. Visit www.northglenn.org/covidops for more information. Please continue to mask up, stay six feet from others, wash/sanitize your hands often, stay home if you feel sick, be extra safe if you're higher risk and get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. For the latest COVID-19 information and resources, check out the following links: There are two more Free Food Market Nights this month, on April 21 and 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Northwest Open Space north parking lot, W. 112th Avenue and Ranch Drive. Drive on by and receive fruit, vegetables and dairy products for FREE. The Northglenn Bike Program will also have some bicycles available to give away on April 21 and 28. This service is available while supplies last, and is sponsored by The Senior Hub, Adams County, and the city. Adams County and the City of Thornton invite residents to bring their electronic waste (computers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, televisions, computer monitors, hard drives, DVD players, scanners, printers, radios, etc.) to Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center on Saturday, April 24, for a recycling event. Registration is required. Items will be recycled safely and responsibly to ensure a high level of data destruction for desktops, laptops, and other data containing equipment. There will be a $15 per vehicle fee for items dropped off, including all electronics and one TV/CRT monitor. Vehicles with up to three TVs/CRT monitors will be charged $25. Cash and credit card will be accepted. For specific questions on certain electronics and data destruction, please call Techno Rescue directly at 303.482.2207. Our Yard Waste Mulching Center has returned to its warm-weather schedule – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from April through November. Don't take up all the space in your trash cart with leaves and tree branches. Instead, bring them to the south end of our Maintenance & Operations Facility, 12301 Claude Court. Just go through the gate as you enter the parking lot. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, residents must wear masks, stay 6 feet away from staff and other visitors outside their group and unload their own vehicles. Only Northglenn residents who have curbside trash pickup can use this service. Please bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill with a photo ID. The city accepts most yard waste except for dirt, sod or gravel. The city does not provide tools to use, so bring shovels if necessary. Questions? Call 303.450.4004 or go to www.northglenn.org/yardwaste. On April 7, our Diversity, Inclusivity and Social Equity (DISE) board held a community listening session. As a follow-up to their conversation, they are asking residents to complete a short survey to get a better idea of the state of our community. View the listening session on YouTube, and take the survey by clicking the button below. Police officers have added body-worn cameras as part of their standard uniform. All officers will be required to wear cameras in the field, with the exception of undercover officers. And this fall, all patrol vehicles will also be equipped with cameras. The goal is to increase accountability and transparency. The body-worn cameras have technology to automatically activate if an officer removes their gun from their holster, or activates their Taser. When the in-car cameras come online, the cameras will automatically turn on when certain actions happen, such as the car door opens or the emergency equipment is fully activated. If any of these actions occur, the technology also activates any other body-worn camera within a 30-foot distance. Passage of Colorado Senate Bill 20-217 requires all law enforcement officers in the state, with the exception of undercover officers, to have body cameras by July 1, 2023. Not only is the department ahead of this timeline by more than 24 months, the in-car cameras are not required. Learn more on our website. Construction on the new Northglenn Recreation Center, Senior Center and Theatre continues to progress. Here, you can see the lazy river and leisure pool are receiving their finishing coat of concrete to smooth out the surfaces. The colored panels on the walls are sound attenuation panels to help cut down sound reverberation. The high-volume, low-speed fan can be seen above the pool to circulate air continuously from the ductwork above. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Police Department and city have taken steps to spread the word! In 2018, the Police Department joined the "Start by Believing" campaign, which encourages everyone to treat sexual assault victims with more consideration and care. You can help by making a pledge to "Start by Believing." In case you missed it, the Force Main A project (a major sewer line replacement) is in progress. Irma Drive is currently closed, with detours provided. For additional info, visit https://bit.ly/3dYQ6ux. |
