CREATIVELY RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE:
#SAVETHESCRIPT SHORT FILM COMPETITION WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED WED 24.06.15

(Awards Ceremony RSVP info below - RSVP essential)

The winners of the short film competition #savethescript will be announced this Wednesday night, 24 June 2015.

Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, partnered with NPS MedicineWise to launch the industry-first competition in a progressive approach to awareness raising and to help fight antibiotic resistance this cold and flu season.

“A UK report has estimated that a continued rise in antibiotic resistance by 2050 would lead to 10 million people dying every year, with a financial cost to the world of up to US$100 trillion.” (amr-review.org)

With the recent release of Australia’s first antimicrobial resistance strategy, and reports last week of an antibiotic resistant superbug in Victorian hospitals, the film competition and its goal of raising awareness about antibiotic resistance in the community have been very timely.

It is estimated that by 2017, 84% of all online and social media engagements will be via video. There is an enormous pressure on brands and companies to be active in leading this next stage of online engagement. NPS has engaged new tactics to message delivery and media communications.

The competition attracted over 100 high quality entries from global submissions, with $10,000 in prizes to be awarded to the winner and runners up on the night. The winning film will also be screened at this year’s Tropfest event in December.

The #savethescript judging panel was overwhelmed by the high standard, ingenuity and originality of the entries.

Media representatives and guests are invited to join us at the award ceremony on Wednesday evening - RSVP - talpert@nps.org.au
