LOCAL AREA HEALTH DEPARTMENT UPDATES AS OF 1/15/21 - Bear River (Box Elder, Cache, Rich counties) has finally developed a page on their website with updated vaccine and clinic information.
- Central
Utah (Juab, Millard, Piute, Sevier, Wayne, Sanpete counties) – has created a Google form link from their website for people to sign up to receive vaccine updates.
- Davis County – Davis County has a detailed update of the timeline and created a robust scheduling system on their website.
- Salt Lake County
- Utahns 70 and Older: Appointments are now full. If we are able to secure additional vaccine doses, we will reopen appointments. Please check back with us next week. If you believe you booked an appointment but did not receive a confirmation email or text, please send ONE EMAIL with your name, date of birth, and a phone number to ImmsSupport@slco.org and we will be in touch in coming days. We have many emails to respond to, so please be patient.
- Healthcare
Workers: An appointment is REQUIRED. Click here to schedule your appointment.
- School Staff in Salt Lake County are eligible to be vaccinated by Community Nursing Services (CNS) through their school or district. Click here for information from CNS about when each district is scheduled.
- Second Doses: We
anticipate opening scheduling for second doses the week of January 18. You may only schedule your second dose AFTER you’ve received your first dose.
- San Juan County – Their website is back up, and they have a link that says “Vaccine information,” but it only links back to the state website, no local vaccination information provided on their site. Please call them directly at (435) 359-0038.
- Southeast Utah (Carbon, Emery, Grand counties) has created an updated page on their website with a scheduler and a link to receive updates.
- Southwest Utah (Garfield, Iron, Kane, Washington, Beaver counties) has created a detailed schedule of vaccination priority group and how to register for upcoming
clinics using Signup Genius.
- Summit County has created a link for those 70+ to sign up. Not sure if they have vaccines or if they are simply signing people up for updates. There is also a link to sign up to receive email updates about vaccine distribution from the County.
- Tooele County has finally posted sign up information for those 70+ to start
receiving the vaccine starting 1/19/21. They ask those who have had the virus in the past 90 days to wait to sign up.
- TriCounty (Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah counties) Anyone 70 years old or older that is interested in the COVID-19 vaccine can call the COVID-19 hotline (1-800-456-7707), choose option 6 by pressing 6 on your phone and press 1 to talk to a live person. They will take name, phone number and city where you live and someone from TCHD will get in contact and schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
- Utah County Schedule an appointment to be vaccinated if you in one of the priority groups eligible to receive a vaccine now or for those 70+ when they become available.
- Wasatch County has finally created a page on their website about how to register to receive a vaccine for those 70+.
- Weber-Morgan all appointments are full for the week of January 18th for all priority groups. Use the link provided to check for updates.

Interested in Serving as a Delegate for AAFP Congress of Delegates?
The Congress of Delegates (COD) is the Academy's policy-making body. Its membership consists of two delegates and two alternates from each constituent chapter and from the member constituencies including new physicians, residents, students, and other constituency groups represented at NCCL.
This year COD is scheduled to take place September 27-29, 2021 and be a hybrid in-person/virtual event. In-person portion to be held in Anaheim, CA (yes, home to Disneyland!). If you are interested in running to be a Delegate, please submit your information here. Elections will be held in February 2021. More details to come.
Dr. Marlin Christianson: When Teaching Becomes The Greatest Adventure Yet
As a child growing up in Gainesville, Florida, Marlin Christianson loved to fish. On one occasion, young Marlin caught a fish and went about cleaning it for the family to enjoy for dinner. His father noticed his skill at what some might consider a fairly gruesome task and commented, “You know what, you seem pretty comfortable doing that. You should be a doctor!”
Over the years following that fateful fishing trip, Dr. Christianson had several positive interactions with youth leaders, teachers, and other adults who were physicians whom he admired, furthering his commitment to pursue a career in medicine one day. One of nine children, Marlin’s parents encouraged all of their children to work in professions that would benefit others, and becoming a doctor one day certainly lived up to that ideal. He also came to know several people serving in the military, and it seemed to him that they were having exceptional adventures, traveling the world and learning things.
