China Approved Species List for Australian SeafoodThe Seafood Trade Advisory Group has again followed up with the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment in regards to the submitted application to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) in June 2020 in line with GACC’s new requirements for the listing of three new aquatic products species (prioritised by STAG in consultation with industry in 2019). The first step under the new GACC guidelines for listing of new species, was that GACC would provide the Department with a questionnaire for these products to assist GACC with their risk evaluation and approval for listing. Based on a follow-up by STAG, the department advised Friday, that unfortunately there has been no progress on the Approved Species List and application for these initial three species. They have also still not received the necessary questionnaire from GACC for the species submitted and have had no response to their letter or subsequent follow up enquiries. The Seafood Trade Advisory Group will continue to work with the department on this issue and keep industry advised accordingly.
