Swingin' At The Savoy is happening soon -- February 28 - March 1 weekend in Oakland. The registration is open and we hope to see you there! This event celebrates Lindy Hop & Jazz, the joy of the dance and the music, their heritage and history. With an impressive lineup of teachers and guests, bands every night and late night dances full of shenanigans, this is an opportunity not to be missed to get inspired, to learn, to connect to larger Lindy Hop community, and to dance, dance, dance!
We are excited for a new program at WNH -- the Community Fund. This is a way for dancers who have a little extra money to help those who cannot afford to take classes or come to dances. Anybody can donate, and anyone can ask to be subsidized. Find out details and donate on our website.

Don Neely Swingtet is back at WNH! They are renowned for authentically performing the exciting sound of Big Band Swing, Hot Syncopated 1920s Jazz, 1930s & 1940s Swing, Blues, Dixieland, Romantic Background Music, Vintage Jazz, Traditional Jazz, and Western Swing. Whatever flavor of swing music gets your feet moving, be sure that Don Neely Swingtet has something for you!
December 3-Week Series
Beginners (8:15pm - 9:15pm)

Come learn the Lindy Hop! This grandfather of all swing dances is fun, creative, and addicting. Progressive material over the course of the month will get you up and dancing at our weekly parties in no time. This class is two-left-feet friendly, and the first of four months of Beginner's curriculum.
Pre-requisites: None. No partner required, just bring comfy shoes and your enthusiasm!
Social (7:15pm - 8:15pm)

How We Dance: Julie & Peter
Two members of the Swing Cats Rhythm Revue performance troupe have extensive experience in Lindy Hop and numerous vintage dance styles (including waltz, polka, tango, and other social dances of the late 1880's and early 1900's). Come learn from them their secret sauce for authentic and fun partnered jazz dancing!
Pre-requisites: All 4 months of Beginners Track or equivalent experience. No partner required, just bring comfy shoes and your enthusiasm!
Technical (7:15pm - 8:15pm)

The Senses Of Dance
Want to learn to connect with your partner on a deeper level? In this class, we’ll be incorporating visual and listening skills to enhance our relationship with the music and with our partner.
Pre-requisites: All 4 months of Beginners Track or equivalent experience. No partner required, just bring comfy shoes and your enthusiasm!
Elective (8:15pm - 9:15pm)

Fundamentals of Tap Dancing (Solo)
The origins of tap dancing are deeply intertwined with the birth of lindy hop. Learning tap dancing is a great way to experiment with new ideas in your social dancing, and explore another genre of black vernacular dance from the swing era. In this class, we’ll build up your tap-dancing vocabulary with foundational steps, rhythms, and shapes, applying and reinforcing the new movements through a fun and simple routine. No previous tap knowledge required. Do not bring tap shoes; comfortable shoes with a hard sole are preferable.
Pre-requisites: None. No partner required, just bring comfy shoes and your enthusiasm!

Second Wednesdays are Balboa Wednesdays! Come dance in our Balboa Room, shuffle, lolly, and come-around!
December 18: White Out Party
The idea behind the WHITE OUT party is simple: celebrate the snow! And since we don’t get snow outside here, we bring it inside in the form of white clothes. So, make sure to wear something WHITE for the dance, take a picture in our photo booth, and celebrate another year coming to an end with WNH family!
December 25 - January 1: WNH CLOSED

Wednesday Night Hop will be closed on Wednesdays of December 25th and January 1st. We wish you a restful break, we hope you get to spend it with friends and/or family. We’ll see you on January 8th to kick off the new year and our January series.
