No Images? Click here This is a special Coalition for the Homeless advocacy alert. This Thursday, June 20, is the last Metro Council budget meeting of the fiscal year. If we do not make our voices heard, homeless shelters and services will be part of the $35 million in cuts. Homeless services literally save lives. They also improve public safety every single day. Will you please take five minutes to make a call or send an email? Find your councilperson here, then call Metro Council at (502) 574-1100—or, if you can't call, send an email. Feel free to speak from the heart, or say the following: “I know it will be difficult to create a balanced budget that includes $35 million in cuts. Programs and services for the homeless save lives and protect public safety. Please do not cut homeless shelters, outreach programs, evidenced-based drug treatments, and prevention—which are funded through Resilience and Community Services, EAF, and NDF funding pools. Thank you.” Once you've done so, please forward this message to two friends, asking them to do the same. Metro Council members will hear from many people this week about the city budget. They must also hear from us on behalf of our homeless neighbors. Thank you for your time and compassion. About UsThe Coalition for the Homeless's mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Louisville through advocacy, education, and the coordination of our 30+ member agencies. We have been the lead advocate for Louisville's homeless since 1986, when we were founded after several people died on Louisville's streets. Please stay connected:
