EARLY BIRD DRAW EXTENDED!

Good news for those who haven't purchased their tickets to the evening yet as we have extended the Early Bird prize draw to Sunday 12th January!

The awards night will take place at The Westin Perth on Friday, February 07 2020. Tickets will include a plated two-course gourmet meal and 5-hour drinks package.

Be sure to get your tickets ASAP to be in the draw to win either a 2020 Equestrian WA Membership or a one night’s stay in a Deluxe King Room at The Westin Perth with breakfast for two at the Garum Perth!

Equestrian WA Olympic athlete pathway fundraising

The annual EWA awards night will include fundraising to support EWA members in the immediate lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. These athletes would be required to be on the Equestrian Australian High-Performance Squad Gold or Green Squads to qualify for funding. Currently, this includes Sharon Jarvis Para-Equestrian and Sonja Johnson Eventing.

The EWA Awards night is a celebration of EWA members and horses recognising their success and commitment to the sport during the preceding year. The addition of the Olympic fundraiser would acknowledge the accomplishment of our members on the Olympic journey.

Because of the tight time constraints of the Awards evening fundraising will include silent auction and raffle at the Awards night and possible online auction leading up to the night and the ability to make a tax-deductible donation when purchasing Awards Night tickets or you can also donate directly here . Please note that no part of award night tickets will be forwarded to the fund.

The fund will be managed by the EWA Chair, EWA Finance Director and an appointed member.

  1. The Olympic athlete pathway fund will provide Event entry fee reimbursement for EWA Australia based eligible athletes entering events outside of Western Australia but within Australia.
  2. Eligible athletes will be asked to supply proof of event entry.
  3. An eligible athlete can apply for multiple event entry refunds.
  4. Fuel costs incurred in travel to events can also be claimed.
  5. Athletes may apply for additional Olympic pathway funds, and these will be assessed on a case by case basis.
  6. The total funding available to riders will be limited by funds raised for this purpose. Once the funds are exhausted, applications for funds will not be accepted.

OFF THE TRACK WA AND EQUESTRIAN WA EVENTS AND CLINICS ANNOUNCED

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is pleased to announce that it will be partnering with Equestrian Western Australia (EWA) through its Off the Track WA program, to present a series of events across the State in 2020.

The series, which covers both regional and metropolitan areas, will provide an opportunity for owners of retired racehorses to participate in clinics with EA accredited coaches and competitions across various disciplines.

RWWA General Manager Racing Charlotte Mills said the partnership forms part of RWWA’s recently announced Racehorse Welfare Plan.

“The series will provide further assistance in the transition of retired racehorses to equestrian and pleasure pursuits,” said RWWA General Manager Racing Charlotte Mills.

“RWWA is committed to ensuring that the best levels of care are given to thoroughbreds and standardbreds throughout all stages of their lives and we will continue to implement the various initiatives outlined in our Racehorse Welfare Plan over the next six to 12 months.”

EWA Chief Executive Officer Dwight Pedlow said he was delighted with the new partnership.

“EWA is honoured to be working with RWWA’s Off the Track program as we believe these competitions and clinics will play an important role in providing educational and encouragement events for owners of retired racehorses,” said Mr Pedlow.

The events will be open to any thoroughbred and standardbred bred for the purposes of racing, including those who have not trialled or raced. Entry fees will be subsidised by RWWA’s Off the Track program with prices capped at $25 per rider per day, with no EWA membership or EWA horse registration requirements.

However, EWA are offering a $25 discounted membership for new members who participate in the Off the Track events.

The series will kick off at the State Equestrian Centre on 18 January 2020, with a dressage and jumping encouragement day. For more information on the events being held visit https://www.wa.equestrian.org.au/ewaott-events-and-clinics
