Outdoors Queensland Awards

Hi there,

On Friday 30th October we hosted the first online Outdoors Queensland Awards presentation. With the finalists waiting with anticipation in their various locations around the state, the Outdoors Queensland team with the assistance of Element Photo & Video Production announced the winners of the 2020 Outdoors Queensland Awards

For each award we showed a short video clip featuring all the finalists for that award, announced the winner and then crossed live to the winner for a few words. In the week before the event we had posted out a large box to each finalist that contained the winners trophies, finalist certificates and a special gift.

Client Group Size Limit Relaxation

In response to a submission made by QORF, Queensland’s Chief Health Officer has approved the relaxation of the restriction in the Outdoor Education Providers COVID Safe industry plan on client groups from a maximum of 100 individuals to allow school groups of unlimited numbers.

Full details of the approved changes will be available once the Outdoor Education Providers COVID Safe industry plan is amended. We understand that these changes will take effect once the updated plan is published on the government website. We will advise once we know the amended plan has been published.

Further updates to the COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Recreation Activity Providers and Outdoor Education Providers are expected soon in light of the relaxations above.

'Threshold Concepts for Tertiary Outdoor Education Graduates' Survey

Attention: Employers and/or outdoor education/recreation people with a university degree background.
Purpose: To gain feedback on, and improve, draft Threshold Concepts (i.e. ways of describing) which are being developed by Australian university outdoor education academics to describe what graduates who have studied outdoor education know and are able to do.
Aim: To develop a set of nationally agreed Threshold Concepts for university graduates who have undertaken studies in Outdoor Education. (Not to replace descriptions of outdoor educator’s activity-specific skills and competencies)
Survey Time: Approx 10 minutes
